Summary:

The Biomedical Tech II is required to perform scheduled procedures, installation, inspection, calibration on Surgical/Clinical/Medical equipment. Perform unscheduled repairs on Surgical/Clinical/Medical equipment. Responsible for documenting the results of all inspections and repairs. Maintains compliance with JCAHO, Federal, state and local standards and regulations. Supports the mission, values and strategic aims of Cook Children's Health Care System This associate is often required to act independently under stressful conditions.

Education & Experience:

  • Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • A minimum of four years' experience in the Clinical/Biomedical repair field. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as probability, geometry, percentages, ratios and proportions.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Highly qualified with the ability to acquire either AAMI or VA certification as a BMET.
