Job Description

Position Summary

Our company is looking for a Design Engineer Intern to join our team at Mission Bell Winery for one year. In this role, your primary function is to create and/or update technical drawings using a computer-aided design program, like AutoCAD, SoildWorks, etc. These drawings are an essential tool for our team and the site. You will also collaborate with other engineers and senior drafters, making adjustments to the plan based on their notes and/or recommendations. Our ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in drafting, engineering, architecture, and construction management and is familiar with using computer-aided design software.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop 2D and/or 3D technical drawings and blueprints using dedicated software or traditional drafting techniques.
  • Collaborating with engineers to create detailed technical plans.
  • Using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to create detailed drawings that incorporate exact measurements, calculations, building codes, and other relevant information.
  • Collaborating with the engineering team and incorporating knowledge gained into drawings.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and redrafting alongside the engineering team and ensuring final designs are compliant with regulations.
  • Create diagrams, maps, and layouts to illustrate workflow as needed.
  • Create design specifications, documentation, and material lists.
  • Prepare complete documentation packages for engineers.
  • Assist in filing, organizing, and recordkeeping of vital company records.
  • Update old records into newer versions and appropriate filing structures.
  • Collaborate on developing manuals that describe existing products' operation, features, and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in drafting, engineering, architecture, or a relevant field.
  • Experience with AutoCAD software.
  • Experience with SolidWorks software is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop creative solutions.
  • Great attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Interpersonal skills to work within a team.
  • Time management skills to complete error-free work within the required timeframe.
  • Communication skills with a focus on reading and writing for creating documentation and reports.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Working conditions in certain areas of the winery are cold, warm, wet, slippery and noisy. Involves exposure to loud noises, fumes, toxic chemicals, near moving mechanical parts and lift truck traffic. Frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouch or crawl, going up and down stairs and ladders. Must be able to move up to 55 lbs. Must have a valid driver's license. Occasional travel with ability to work weekends and overtime. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The salary range for this role is:

$19.00- $29.50 an hour

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees.
