Location: Edinburgh

Computershare are currently looking to recruit a Senior Developer to join our Global Development team in Edinburgh. This position sits within a development team who provide problem management and incident resolution capability for our middleware legacy Applications.

You will be troubleshooting performance problems, interacting with the Product teams to ensure steps in a incident report are reproducible and collaborate with our engineering teams to deep dive into the code base to fix customer issues.

That's not all though, you will be invited to contribute to the source code, improve our documentation and help build out a more efficient support process.

This role is hybrid and will be based in our Edinburgh office 3 days a week.

Some key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for our suite of middleware applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve .net and SQL related issues reported by internal teams and external clients.
  • Provide development support for server upgrades and pen tests.
  • Collaborate with other developers, QA, and DevOps to identify root causes and implement fixes.
  • Write and maintain support documentation, FAQs, and knowledge base articles.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of support processes and tooling.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to code reviews and best practices.

What will you bring to the role?

You will demonstrate previous experience as a Developer and have a clear passion for the role.

Key skills required for the role include:

  • Good exposure to .net development and experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as SQL Server.
  • Experience of Agile development in a DevOps environment, embracing the adoption of automation and CI/CD practices.
  • Knowledge and experience of applying engineering principles for design, build, test and deployment.
  • Collaborates and communicates well, builds great working relationships, influences others, challenges effectively and responds well to challenge from others, shares information and ideas with others, has good listening skills.
  • Has a strong work ethic and is able to deal with sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Curious and continuous learner - investigates, interprets and grasps new concepts.
  • Methodical approach to analysis of legacy code system.
  • Analytical thinking - Attention to detail.
  • Consider the impact of downstream systems - prioritise stability.
  • Explains technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders .
