Regional Financial Accountant

Location: Bristol (Hybrid)

This position works as part of the group finance team, sharing information among local and global team members. The financial accountant is expected to meet critical time constraints and recognises the impact of individual performance upon team and company performance.

A role you will love

Regional Financial Accountant responsibilities include assisting with delivery of the month-end close process, reporting to Group finance, preparing local statutory financial statements and regulatory reports for allocated legal entities ensuring that all deadlines are met.

The Financial Accountant also supports the audit process by providing supporting evidence and documenting accounting positions. They are focused on maintaining appropriate controls in the reporting process and that all continuous improvement initiatives are well supported in their region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the preparation of statutory accounts under local GAAP where required and regulatory reports for assigned regional subsidiaries focusing on accuracy and timeliness as well as local board reports where applicable.
  • Participate in the preparation of board reports for the local statutory board of directors, including writing commentary on variances.
  • Prepare financial modelling of liquidity and cash flows for the Internal Capital and Risk Assessment process.
  • Prepare group Half-Year and Year-End disclosure reporting packs.
  • Review accounting entries and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the transactional accounting team.
  • Contribute to both regional and group-wide ad hoc projects including continuous improvements, group initiatives and participation in transformation activity where required.
  • Maintain appropriate controls in the reporting process and puts forward ideas for process, policy, and control improvements.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests in areas related to reporting and financial control deploying accounting and reporting expertise.

What will you bring to the role?

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced and qualified accountant, either looking to make your first move into industry from accounting practice or with applicable experience from a similar role.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified (or close to) Accountant, ACA, CPA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • Experience in an Audit environment, ideally from a professional services background.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS and local accounting standards; further on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Understanding of basic controls in the reporting and other finance processes.
  • Experience of Oracle ERP would be beneficial.
