Regional Accounting Manager

Location: Bristol (Hybrid)

Fixed Term Contract for 12 months

This role is responsible for legal entity accounting for agreed entities within their appointed region; including management of statutory accounts preparation, liaison with auditors, coordination of board reporting and regulatory reporting.

A role you will love

The Regional Accounting Manager oversees the financial control function with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and statutory reporting. Ensures company's accounting policies are adhered to and manages risk in financial reporting. Recommends improvements to financial reporting processes.

Regional Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing a small accounting team in the region. The role will report to the Regional Financial Controller.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures integrity of assigned legal entities' numbers reported to Group on a monthly basis through an appropriate Quality Assurance process including collaboration with the Transactional Accounting and FP&A functions, as well as Half-Year and Year-End disclosure reporting packs
  • Prepares clear and robust analysis of the correct accounting treatment for any judgmental accounting positions or complex ad-hoc transactions; documents established positions in accounting papers and provides accounting guidance to regional teams and stakeholders
  • Ensures all statutory accounts and regulatory reports for assigned regional subsidiaries are accurate and filed in a timely manner
  • Manage external audits and the relationship with external auditors efficiently
  • Contributes to both regional and group-wide ad hoc projects including continuous improvements, group initiatives and participation in transformation activity where required
  • Contributes to leading the regional Financial Control team, managing and developing more junior team members

What will you bring to the role?

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced and qualified accountant with several years' management experience, ideally from a large, complex organisation.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant, ACA, CPA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, local accounting standards where applicable and the regulatory reporting requirements for the region in which they will operate
  • Understands month end and other finance reporting processes, accountabilities and hand-offs
  • Experience of developing robust risk management framework to ensure all risks are fully understood and all relevant controls are working effectively.
  • Strong in solving more advanced technical accounting and other finance-related problems in a collaborative manner with multiple sources and inputs to develop optimal solutions
  • Good leadership skills, in particular relationship-building and ability to influence
  • Competent negotiator and relationship manager, with the ability to work with senior layers of the organisation
