We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and senior professional to join us as a Director of Risk and Compliance and CRO/CCO for Canada Advantage Trust of Canada (CATC).

A role you will love

This is a senior leadership role within the Global Risk Group at Computershare, forming part of the Second Line of Defence. This role is responsible for supporting, challenging, and overseeing the CATC Corporate Trust business in Canada, ensuring effective management of its risk profile and compliance with regulatory obligations. Additionally, this position will also support the Canada CRO/CCO with 2nd line oversight responsibilities for Computershare Canada, including maintaining positive relationships with regulators in the region.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide independent oversight and support for risk and compliance activities, acting as a trusted advisor and, when needed, providing effective challenge to the CATC Corporate Trust business.
  • Oversee the implementation and ongoing management of Computershare's risk framework for CATC and other Canadian entities.
  • Ensure effective regulatory compliance by supporting and monitoring the compliance management framework for CATC.
  • Lead and collaborate with second-line Risk and Compliance professionals across Canada and globally to support local business entities.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to develop and deliver risk and compliance reporting for governance forums, including boards and board committees.
  • Build strong relationships with senior management to guide and challenge them in managing their risk exposure effectively.
  • Serve as the Chief Risk Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for CATC, and act as the alternate for the Canada CRO/CCO.
  • Lead regulatory change initiatives relevant to CATC, working with risk and compliance teams, business leaders, and functional heads to ensure compliance across Canadian operations.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on risk and compliance matters to CATC and Canadian senior management, including escalation of significant issues when necessary.

What will you bring to the role?

You bring a strong track record of leadership in risk and compliance within federally regulated financial institutions, along with deep expertise in Canadian regulatory frameworks. Your ability to navigate complex environments, influence senior stakeholders, and drive strategic risk initiatives positions you as a key leader in shaping and overseeing risk management.

Other key skills required for the role include:

  • A university degree and recognized certifications in risk management and compliance.
  • Proven leadership experience across risk, compliance, legal, audit, or governance functions in a regulated financial services environment.
  • A comprehensive understanding of enterprise-wide risk, with particular strength in operational, regulatory, financial, and strategic risk domains.
  • Expert knowledge of Canadian regulatory requirements for Trust Companies, including OSFI guidelines and legislation such as the Trust and Loan Companies Act.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing risk and compliance frameworks in fast-paced, change-driven organizations.
  • The ability to engage and influence executive leadership and board members with credibility and confidence.
  • Experience managing relationships with regulators and navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, project management and stakeholder engagement skills, underpinned by integrity and a commitment to excellence.
