Systems Engineer – Google Ecosystem (Enterprise Technology)
Overview
Compass is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Technology team within the broader Product and Engineering organization. In this role, you’ll serve as the primary technical owner for Compass’s Google Ecosystem, driving platform design, optimization, automation, and integration to enable productivity and collaboration at scale. As Compass continues its rapid growth, we need a systems engineer who can balance operational excellence with forward-looking innovation—especially in AI-driven workplace automation and cloud-based solutions using GCP and AgentSpace—to help thousands of employees and agents work smarter, faster, and more securely.

Position Overview
The Systems Engineer will lead the design, configuration, integration, and ongoing enhancement of Compass’s Google Ecosystem, including Google Workspace, GCP, and AI-powered productivity tools like AgentSpace. You will support and optimize other enterprise productivity platforms such as Slack, Atlassian, and Workato. Partnering with cross-functional teams—including Security, Legal, and IT Operations—you will deliver secure, scalable, and intelligent solutions that streamline workflows and eliminate friction from day-to-day collaboration.
A key focus of this role is leveraging AI, large language models (LLMs), AgentSpace, and GCP-based solutions to transform workplace tooling—building automation and productivity solutions that empower Compass employees to work smarter, faster, and more efficiently. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise will directly shape how Compass employees communicate, create, and innovate, using AI-driven strategies to amplify operational impact and unlock new possibilities for collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary owner and administrator of Compass’s Google Ecosystem, overseeing user lifecycle management, organizational unit design, security controls, and platform optimization.
- Build custom tools, automations, and integrations using Python, Google Apps Script, REST APIs, OAuth2, Workato, GCP services, and AgentSpace to streamline complex workflows.
- Integrate the Google Ecosystem with enterprise platforms such as Okta, Slack, Atlassian, Salesforce, AgentSpace, and other systems to enable seamless collaboration and data flow.
- Lead the development of AI-powered workflows and intelligent automations—leveraging large language models (LLMs), AgentSpace, and GCP services—to enhance productivity and reduce manual effort.
- Partner with Security and Legal teams to ensure compliance with governance, data loss prevention (DLP), identity and access management (IAM), and auditing requirements.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex platform issues, acting as the escalation point for critical incidents.
- Mentor team members on platform design, automation best practices, AI/LLM applications, GCP solutions, and secure administration principles.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational health through proactive monitoring, alerting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support Google Ecosystem migrations, consolidations, and large-scale configuration changes across multiple domains.
- Monitor license usage to ensure Compass is maximizing our spend with Google.
- Contribute to the development and execution of Compass’s productivity and collaboration platform strategy using AI, GCP, and AgentSpace-driven solutions.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing Google Workspace and other Google Ecosystem tools in a complex, fast-scaling enterprise environment.
- Proven track record of building custom tooling and automations using Python, Apps Script, REST APIs, OAuth2, Workato, GCP services, or AgentSpace.
- Hands-on experience with multiple Workspace domains, including migrations and consolidations.
- Strong understanding of IAM, SSO, SCIM, context-aware access, and related security concepts.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI, LLMs, AgentSpace, and GCP to enhance workplace productivity and tooling.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Commitment to operational excellence, with experience in monitoring, alerting, and reliability best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of SaaS governance frameworks, regulatory compliance requirements, and enterprise security standards, with experience translating them into operational practices.
- Track record of delivering results in high-growth, technology-driven organizations with globally distributed teams.
- Familiarity with user data migration providers (CloudM, Movebot, AvePoint).
- Extensive experience designing and implementing automation frameworks, advanced scripting, and orchestrating complex workflows across multiple systems.
- Relevant certifications in Google Workspace Administration, GCP, or other cloud and enterprise productivity platforms.
Compensation: The base pay range for this position is $72,000-$109,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
