Collins Aerospace's Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico (GETC-PR) is looking for a Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer to join our organization. We are looking for a strong, passionate problem-solver with an action-oriented, collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations.This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. Design major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
Develop data and make parametric models, layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
Design, develop and test metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.
Conduct solid and thermal analysis of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using FEA software.
Research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
Plan, design, develop, and test of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
May evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 5 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Siemens NX, Visio, Solidworks software.
Experience in ANSYS, ABAQUS FEA software.
Experience in design and analysis of heat exchangers.
Desirable experience in CNC Manufacturing, Mechanical Design.
Experience interacting with Mechanical Computer Aided Design Resources (MCAD).
Project Engineering experience is a plus.
Experience interacting with configuration management (CM).
Knowledge and experience working Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Tolerance Stack up Calculation, Weight Analysis, etc.
Teamcenter (or other collaborational space) knowledge is a plus.
SAP knowledge is valuable.
Experience in Thermal Sciences is a plus
EVMS experience and knowledge is a plus.
Project management /MS Project is valuable.
