Collins Aerospace's Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico (GETC-PR) is looking for a Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer to join our organization. - Design major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
- Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
- Develop data and make parametric models, layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
- Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
- Design, develop and test metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.
- Conduct solid and thermal analysis of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using FEA software.
- Research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
- Plan, design, develop, and test of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
- May evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 5 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Experience in Siemens NX, Visio, Solidworks software.
- Experience in ANSYS, ABAQUS FEA software.
- Experience in design and analysis of heat exchangers.
- Desirable experience in CNC Manufacturing, Mechanical Design.
- Experience interacting with Mechanical Computer Aided Design Resources (MCAD).
- Project Engineering experience is a plus.
- Experience interacting with configuration management (CM).
- Knowledge and experience working Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Tolerance Stack up Calculation, Weight Analysis, etc.
- Teamcenter (or other collaborational space) knowledge is a plus.
- SAP knowledge is valuable.
- Experience in Thermal Sciences is a plus
- EVMS experience and knowledge is a plus.
- Project management /MS Project is valuable.
