Internal Communications serves Coinbase’s mission by helping build a world-class employee experience and a premier employer brand. The team’s work ranges from continuous improvement of the systems and structures that support how people and teams communicate to planning and producing significant all-company events. This work is particularly critical given that Coinbase is a global, remote-first company, underscoring the need for efficient, effective internal communications throughout the organization.
The Internal Communications Senior Associate will report to the Director of Internal Communications at Coinbase and will work with senior leaders and diverse groups of employees across the company to tell powerful stories, design communications and change efforts, and help define communications standards and norms.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Ensuring employees have the information they need to be successful at the micro and macro levels
- Creating and improving systems that help Internal Comms continue to scale its support at a fast-paced company
- Developing a deep understanding of the company’s history and the vision for where we’re headed
- Maintaining a broad understanding of the needs and dynamics of each team you support to best advise them
- Partnering with team leads (including company-wide senior leaders) to develop and disseminate organization- and company-wide communications
- Proactively identifying opportunities and developing new programs to uplevel internal communications
- Supporting and executing team-wide and company-wide live events (i.e. drafting talking points, advising on event flow and structure, preparing speakers, etc.)
- Shaping educational materials to build understanding of communication best practices
- Partnering with your Internal & External Comms teammates to manage proactive/reactive communications and internal issues management
- Proactively identify opportunities and develop new communications programs/strategy to uplevel internal communications and improve our processes for more proactive, clear and succinct communications
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- 5+ years of experience in a relevant role
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, prioritizing clarity & brevity in all communications
- Experience interfacing with and supporting senior-level “clients” (either in an internal or client services role)
- Flexible and able to maintain a proactive, even-keeled posture in the face of rapid organizational change and shifting priorities
- Experience communicating to a highly distributed workforce
- Extremely organized (gets energy from roadmapping, planning, envisioning the path)
- Able to think and do—someone who can both generate ideas and implement them
- Able to balance speed and quality, with an acute sense for what matters most in a given moment
- Deep curiosity about the intersection of technology and finance
Nice to haves:
- Experience with design and/or multimedia development (i.e. design skills within Google Slides, experience/expertise in video editing)
- Experience in communicating to highly-technical, engineering-focused audiences
- Experience with both external and internal communications
- Experience driving virtual live events
