Job Summary
The Work Equipment Truck Driver is responsible for operating various equipment such as heavy-duty and railroad machinery. Additionally, the incumbent maintains documentation such as Driver's Logbook records and Driver-Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR). This is a travelling position.

Major Responsibilities

• Operate winch tractor and trailer unit primarily within the Ontario region on a travelling schedule, but may be required to travel into other provinces
• Secure equipment and track materials for highway transport
• Operate heavy-duty and railroad machinery for loading
• Obtain Single Trip Permits
• Maintain Driver's Logbook records, DVIRs, and Fuel Reports
• Use lowbed and deck trailers, as well as highway vans

Working Conditions

• Able to work, drive, and load equipment in all types of weather conditions year-round
• Able to install and use tire chains
• Must be able to work overtime, which is a regular part of the work regimen in order to aid in response to critical incidences
• Must be available to regularly work away from the home terminal for considerable periods of time
• Role is entitled to reimbursement of meals and accommodation expenses incurred
• May be assigned other duties as required

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience with winch tractor trailer operation
• Minimum 2 years of experience with a winch truck
• Experience in loading, securing, and hauling machinery on deck trailers
• Experience in trucking inter-provincially
• Able to obtain qualification in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and Railway Operating Rules (ROR)
• Must pass the Company's required medical assessment
• Able to qualify in CN's Driving Tests or equivalent
• Must possess a Class 1 Licence with Air Endorsement required to operate tractor units with winch
• Possess Class 1A Licence for 5 years

• Able to qualify in eight axle configurations utilizing jeeps and boosters
• Must provide Driver's Abstract Release
• Must report all past driving violations as well as sign a Disclosure agreement stating that they are going to report all driving violations
• Knowledge of the Ontario Region Territory
• Must be conversant with all federal and provincial regulations
Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset

Training

Upon hiring, the position attends formal and on-the-job training. The incumbent is required to complete the training program successfully. The position receives classroom training over a period of 4 weeks at 40 hours per week. The training is primarily on health and safety rules and basic machine operator procedures. Successful completion of the classroom and on-the-job training is mandatory to continue employment.
This position is a unionized position. As such, pay and benefits are governed by the applicable collective agreement.

Le chauffeur ou la chauffeuse de camion Matériel de travaux est responsable de l'utilisation de différents types de matériel, comme le matériel lourd et la machinerie ferroviaire. En outre, la personne titulaire de ce poste tient à jour des documents comme le journal de bord du véhicule et le rapport d'inspection du véhicule du conducteur (RIVC).

Principales responsabilités

• Conduire une semi-remorque avec treuil principalement dans leurs régions territoriales, mais peut être amenée à se déplacer dans d'autres provinces
• Immobiliser l'équipement et le matériel de voie pour le transport routier
• Utiliser du matériel lourd et de la machinerie ferroviaire pour le chargement
• Obtenir des autorisations pour trajet simple
• Tenir à jour le journal de bord du véhicule, les RIVC et les relevés sur la consommation de carburant
• Conduire des remorques à plateforme surbaissée, des remorques à plateau et des semi-remorques

Conditions de travail

• Capacité à travailler, à conduire et à charger le matériel dans toutes sortes de conditions météorologiques, tout au long de l'année
• Capacité à installer et à utiliser des chaînes antidérapantes
• Aptitude à effectuer des heures supplémentaires (élément courant du cycle de travail) afin d'aider à répondre aux incidents critiques
• Capacité à travailler régulièrement loin de son terminal d'attache pendant de longues périodes
• Admissibilité au remboursement des frais de repas et d'hébergement engagés
• Exécution éventuelle d'autres tâches, au besoin

Exigences

• Au moins 1 an d'expérience en utilisation d'un semi-remorque avec treuil
• Au moins 2 ans d'expérience en conduite d'un camion avec treuil
• Expérience du chargement, de l'immobilisation et du transport de machines sur des remorques à plateau

• Expérience en conduite de camion entre diverses provinces
• Capacité à obtenir une qualification en vertu du Règlement d'exploitation ferroviaire du Canada (REFC)
• Réussite de l'évaluation médicale requise par la Compagnie
• Réussite des tests de conduite du CN ou l'équivalent
• Titulaire d'un permis de conduire de classe 1 avec mention pour conduite de véhicules avec freins à air (nécessaire pour la conduite d'un semi-remorque avec treuil)
• Titulaire d'un permis de classe 1A pendant 5 ans
• Qualification pour la conduite d'unités à 8 essieux, comportant des chariots à sellette et des chariots auxiliaires
• Doit autoriser la divulgation du dossier de conduite
• Signalement de toutes les infractions commises précédemment au volant, et engagement à signaler toute nouvelle infraction au Code de la route
• Connaissance de la sous-région des Montagnes
• Connaissance de l'ensemble des règlements fédéraux et provinciaux
Toute expérience, formation, compétence ou connaissance dans l'un des domaines ci-dessus constitue un atout

Formation

À son embauche, le ou la titulaire du poste reçoit une formation théorique et pratique. Cette personne doit réussir le programme de formation. La personne en poste reçoit également une formation en classe de 4 semaines à raison de 40 heures par semaine. La formation aborde principalement les règles de santé et sécurité, de même que les techniques de base des conducteurs de machine. La réussite de la formation en classe et de la formation pratique est obligatoire pour conserver ce poste.
Ce poste est syndiqué. Par conséquent, le salaire et les avantages sociaux sont régis par la convention collective en vigueur.
