Job Summary
The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance on shop facility machinery and equipment.
Major Responsibilities
• Perform maintenance on the shop facility, machinery and equipment
• Perform corrective, reactive and preventative maintenance of facilities buildings, equipment and installations as well as repairs and project work
Working Conditions
• Must be able to show proficiency in safety training, be able to climb, work at heights and qualify for fall restraint and confined spaces
• The role requires working inside and outside in various conditions
• The role requires working away from home for extended periods

• The incumbent must be available to work overtime when necessary
Requirements
• Must hold Inter-Provincial Red Seal HDET Certificate and currently hold a position within Winnipeg's maintenance department
• Will be required to obtain a Class 3 licence
Employment requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED).
- Valid driver's license.
- Lift-truck operator certification.
- Proficiency in the operation of lift-truck, up to 21,000 pounds (10,000 kg) capacity.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
Asset:
Class 1 driver's license.

• Constantly alert and always prepared for unusual conditions or circumstances.
• Conform to safety procedures and maintain a high level of safety awareness in the work environment.
• Dedicated to getting the job done while meeting established standards of quality, safety and client satisfaction.
• Basic computer skills.
Training
The Heavy Duty Mechanic must complete all training sessions as directed by the company. A successful completion of this training is essential for future performance of duties.
This position is a unionized position. As such, pay and benefits are governed by the applicable collective agreement.
