Position Summary
Directly leads and manages the alignment of nursing workflows with ConnectHope (Epic) functionality, including improving and innovating in response to operational and clinical needs. This position will peer with service line nursing leaders across Duarte IP/OP and Community sites to identify opportunities for improving both user workflow and ConnectHope build and routinely provide direct support to nursing and ancillary staff through regular clinical rounds. This position will monitor and report on the nursing related ConnectHope build activities and provide updates to CMIO team leads (CMIO; Associate CMIOs; Director, Clinical Systems Optimization; Director, Clinical Informatics; CI Project Manager) and nursing leadership. This individual will manage EHR nursing enhancements in collaboration with Clinical Informatics Specialists assigned to specific projects and ConnectHope analysts and managers. This individual will regularly facilitate the establishment of a safe practice environment for interdisciplinary team members' use of technology. This will align with strategic initiatives around clinical network integration and patient experience and access.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Ensures the completion and effectiveness of assessing, planning, implementation, evaluation and optimization of nursing informatics, clinical informatics, and clinical research projects.
  • Collaborates with operational leads, clinical department directors, nurse managers, CNSs and clinical experts, physicians and other key staff in overall project evaluation. Identifies key benchmarks for use in evaluation.
  • Initiates and directs planning related to project development including the identification of project objectives, expected outcomes, resource requirements and evaluation strategies.
  • Contributes to the design and conduct of evidence-based practice and quality improvement activities related to the care with patients and their families.
  • Works with appropriate department teams and directors to confirm staff involvement and competency for projects as appropriate
  • Provides support to nursing leadership and staff through routine clinical informatics rounds
  • Evaluates outcomes of EHR and technology use including but not limited to feedback from nursing users and measuring impact to patient safety
  • Facilitates a safe practice environment for interdisciplinary team members use of technology
  • Evaluates current interventions and emerging technologies to ensure implementation of strategies that promote viable data, cost, safety, and quality outcomes
  • Provides a nursing perspective and articulates nursing needs related to integration of technology in patient care delivery
  • Develops policies and procedures to support integration of health information technology into clinical practice
  • Evaluates necessary changes in nursing clinical practice and workflow as related to technology, including new functionality and functional applications

  • Provides clear, consistent, regular communication with project team, executive leadership, and project stakeholders at all levels
  • Effectively collaborates with peers and leadership to share resources on critical projects; seeks opportunities to help others' projects by sharing and reallocating team members' priorities and assignments
  • Manages a positive, collaborative project team environment that encourages support and success
  • Completion and accuracy of processes and project documentation requirements.
  • Appropriate written and oral communication with department, users and outside vendors.

Professional Development:
  • Identifies professional strengths and areas for growth and demonstrates professional development through formal and informal learning experiences.
  • Advances the practice of nursing through publications and/or presentations.
  • Serves as a mentor to staff, assisting them in professional self-development activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other related field
  • Master's Degree in Clinical Informatics, Nursing or other relevant field
  • 5 years of clinical informatics, clinical research informatics, and/or clinical EHR application analyst experience
  • 2 years of operational or clinical management experience
  • RN licensure in the State of California
  • Active Epic certification for clinical applications

Preferred education experience and skills:
  • 7 years of clinical informatics, clinical research informatics, and/or clinical EHR application analyst experience
  • 2 years of senior or lead EHR analyst experience
  • Experience in project management, business administration, or technical management
