A Traffic Systems Technician I job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation Public Works Deptartment within the Traffic Management Division. The Traffic Management Division is responsible for planning, designing, installing, repairing, and maintaining the pavement markings, signs, and street lights for the City of Fort Worth. The section is seeking a Traffic Systems Technician I to install, repair and maintain the street light system for the city.

The Traffic Systems Technician I job responsibilities include:
  • Installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic control systems, specifically street lights
  • Ability to operate various specialized tools and equipment related to traffic control system maintenance
  • Required to work outside, during inclement weather, at night and on weekends for special events or emergency call-back
  • Ability to work at heights of at least 30 feet


Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma/GED
  • One (1) year of experience in electrical construction or electrical maintenance construction
  • Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License
  • Possession of Class "B" Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire date


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Electronics or a related field
  • Specialized licenses or certifications such as an Apprentice Electrician or Journeyman Electrical Licenses, IMSA Certifications, bucket truck certification, or derrick/digger certification
  • Candidates with computer software experience are also preferred
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
