Principal Construction Lead

Overview

The Principal Construction Lead is responsible for leading the construction process for all new Chick-fil-A Restaurants within a region. This will include both Free Standing and In-Line Restaurants. The person in this role works closely with Real Estate, Development, Franchisee Selection, Restaurant Launch Support, and Operations as well as many outside professionals and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Chick-fil-A Real Estate, Development, and Design staff to provide input during the pre-construction phase of each project.
  • Select, develop, and lead outside resources, including project management consultants, general contractors, and other strategic business partners.
  • Serve as the primary construction contact for Operators, Field Operations, Restaurant Design, Facilities & Equipment, and all other internal stakeholders within a specific region.
  • Create, approve, and steward the regional construction budget.
  • Ensure timely construction schedules to meet region plan.
  • Provide problem solving input and solutions to ongoing construction building and site issues.
  • Schedule strategic site visits to coach the team, verify plan compliance, and ensure quality expectations are met.
  • Provide construction related follow-up services to Operations and Facilities & Equipment during and after Grand Opening.
  • Influence the design and construction of future restaurants through change management, value engineering, and incorporating LEAN best practices to streamline the construction process and gain efficiencies.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, Real Estate, or related field of study
  • 8+ years of project management experience in retail or larger commercial construction within pre-construction or construction phase.
  • Strong background and experience in project management and contract negotiations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and negotiate project costs
  • Demonstrated strong leadership abilities and results through others
  • Previous experience with lean construction
  • Strong communication skills
