Our Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in Plantation, FL or Boston, MA. This is an excellent opportunity to join our full stack engineering team that supports behind-the-scenes operations, while gaining significant exposure to Chewy’s entire business! Our cloud-based integration empowers you to integrate our software with our core e-commerce platform.  As part of a dynamic team and high growth company, you will work in a fast-paced environment where your work will have an immediate impact on the business. Our collaborative code environment will allow you the opportunity to learn from and work closely with our passionate engineers.

What You'll Do:

  • Act in the capacity of a software engineer to actively participate in the definition, design, development, testing and implementation of software functionality using the Agile methodology
  • Through cross-functional collaboration you’ll design and build interfaces that integrate every aspect of our business.
  • Create or modify complex programs, modules, routines, scripts and data objects from a detailed design where efficiency, performance and reliability are critical.
  • You’ll write simple and sustainable code that reflects a deep understanding of our business and contributes meaningfully to the success of your team and delivery to our customers.  
  • Ensure that technical solutions follow best practices, are reliable, are easily maintainable and are scalable under sustained load
  • Participate in design and code reviews
  • Collaborate to identify, isolate and resolve malfunctions related to software
  • Conduct knowledge transition on solutions to the designated application support team(s)
  • Create and evolve application documentation as required
  • Operate in compliance with IT standards, policies, procedures, and best practices

What You'll Need:

  • BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or Information Technology
  • Minimum 4+ years of full software development lifecycle experience including the ability to perform independent analysis
  • 4+ years of experience developing applications in web technologies (Java, Spring Boot, AWS Technologies/Cloud Migration experience)
  • Experience building applications using AWS services
  • Proven experience working web server technologies
  • Experience with distributed SCM (GitHub a plus), DevOps, AWS
  • Working knowledge of UI/UX development with Vue or React framework
  • Must be team oriented and have a customer service approach
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis  
  • Demonstrated ability to work with database and has basic SQL skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Position may require travel

Bonus:

  • Experience with any of the following: Java Script, Terraform, Agile/Scrum, open source technologies, responsive application design, continuous integration using Jenkins
  • 3+ years of experience in SQL and developing applications with relational database technologies (PostGres preferred)
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture
  • Exposure to working in e-commerce
  • Experience working directly with non-IT business partners
  • Willingness to travel as needed
