Senior Director, Brand Management Private Brands

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Senior Director, Brand Management Private Brands  to lead our Private Brand Platform Teams. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, goal-oriented, and an analytical hands-on leader who excels in a fast-paced environment. He/she is experienced in private/owned brands and is equally passionate about building great brands, e-commerce, and disrupting the pet industry. This leader will have accountability for the entire portfolio of Chewy’s private brands like American Journey, Frisco, Vibeful just to name a few. The Private Brand platform business unit team is a highly cross-functional group that is the primary interface with numerous other organizations across the company including Merchandising, Marketing, Operations, R&D, Quality, Sourcing, and Technology. The role reports to the VP, Private Brands and is accountable for the full P&L and strategy of our proprietary brands business unit.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own and manage the operating P&L for our Private Brands with appropriate top and bottom-line goal setting for one to five years; Create and manage appropriate input goals across assortment, price, availability, and customer engagement. 
  • Partner with consumer insights team to uncover consumer insights for the creation of new brands, portfolio expansion or changes to existing brands in the portfolio. 
  • Create vision for long range assortment plan. Develop specific business strategies and plans to meet financial targets  
  • Create and manage a 3-year product and brand pipeline resulting in pet products and our customers rave, wag, and purr about.  
  • Own creation of Private Brands annual operating plans and the alignment with key cross-functional partners 
  • Demonstrate consistent curiosity and high standards to continuously evaluate new opportunities and improvements across our portfolio. 
  • Lead and mentor individuals to create a high performing team  

What You’ll Need:

  • 15+ years in brand marketing and/or general management positions in top  retail, or e-commerce organizations. 
  • Experience building great consumer-facing businesses and brands. 
  • Adept at working in a cross-functional, matrixed organization 
  • Experience managing multiple brands as a holistic ecosystem as well as individually 
  • Ability to operate simultaneously and effectively in both tactical and strategic modes. 
  • Highly analytical business leader who can drive significant value in the P&L. 
  • Experience developing brand and product strategies for consumer-facing brands. 
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing a team. 
  • An ability to flawlessly multi-task and thrive under pressure and deadlines 
  • Experience building and evaluating new business cases and a track record of operationalizing innovation and ideas into large scale revenue and profit generation. 
  • Experience building and managing high performing teams and cross-functional leadership. 
  • Expert in utilizing a number of different methodologies to understand consumers, identify opportunity areas and drive cohesive experiences 
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal skills; experience authoring documents and detailed operational plans supported with key insights to lead effective decision making; Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels including with senior executives 
  • BA / BS in relevant field and relevant experience

Compensation & Benefits: 

Our salary range for a Senior Director, Strategy & Planning position is $208,000.00 - $354,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
