Creative Director - Copy
Our Opportunity:
Love pets? Us too.
At Chewy, we’re sniffing around for a Creative Director (Copy) to take the leash on a few of our highest priority workflows! As a leader on our Brand Creative team, this Creative Director (Copy) will be responsible for helping craft the tone and execution of Chewy’s most visible storytelling efforts, with a particular focus on our Broadcast and Brand Campaign creative development. This role will report into the Principal Brand Creative Director and will spend their days elevating our brand’s standard of work up and down the marketing funnel.
This Creative Director (Copy) brings a proven pedigree in crafting world-class creative for world-class brands. Our team strives to conceptualize and implement creative that moves the bottom line in the right direction and social executions that break through and connect with pet parents in ways that are entertaining, authentic, and memorable.
At Chewy, we’re doing nearly all brand development in-house these days. We are looking for someone with the strategic, conceptual, and executional craft to help our brand navigate and succeed across today’s modern brand landscape. This role calls for someone with the vision and heart to lead a growing Fortune 500 brand into the future of an increasingly competitive pet care industry.
This role is expected to work in-person three days a week at our office hubs — Bellevue, WA, or Plantation, FL.
What You’ll Do:
- As a leader, you still do the work. In fact, you do as much as you delegate. But most importantly, you know when either is necessary
- You know how to fight the good fight. You know what’s best for the work, but you’re also adept at balancing realities like timeline, budget, and collaborator feedback
- Your presentation is just as good as your work. You drool at the chance to drive the deck and truly sell what you’ve been working on
- You are proficient in a range of tonalities. Life with pets can be funny, downright adorable, or outright stressful. You can write to them all
- You aren’t afraid (or dismissive) of data. Because it’s 2025, and data is just one great building block of a great brand
- You are an empathetic team member. You understand brand building is a team sport that involves everyone
What You’ll Need
- 8+ years of experience concepting, developing, and executing content for top-tier brands and/or entertainment properties; minimum (4+) of those years spent in a position of creative leadership, process oversight, and people management in a top-tier agency, creative production, or in-house environment
- You have a background in writing that is paired with a comfortable competency in visual storytelling and design development
- A diverse portfolio of brand work you’re proud to discuss that showcases an ability to craft breakthrough executions
- A proficiency and comfort in the arenas of high-stakes production and post-production
- A natural comfort owning the process and presenting creative progress to C-Suite leadership and collaborators
- A point of view about what it takes to be a world-class brand in 2025 and beyond
A little more about us:
- We are pet lovers. We understand the multifaceted role pets play in people’s lives today, and we consider it an honor to help play a small part in making that journey happy and healthy.
- We are brand lovers. This is our dream job — making great work for a beloved brand. No complacency or bitter attitudes allowed.
- We value craft. Our writing has messaging hierarchy. Our design has purpose. We get nitty gritty, because we find that nitty gritty gets results.
- We are progress-obsessed. We seek to improve every day — the quality of our work, the process it takes to create, and the fun we have along the way.
- We are proudly in-house. We are business-minded creatives who embed ourselves in the problem to generate impactful solutions that get results.

Today at Chewy
It’s an incredibly exciting time at Chewy, where we are constantly innovating new ways to help pets and pet parents live their best lives together. That may sound like a stock sentence full of buzz words, but it’s 100% true. Now in our 14th year (or 98th dog year), our business is expanding in new ways and into new categories. More than just a reliable way to get dog or cat food delivered, Chewy has evolved into a comprehensive one-stop shop, non-stop support for life with any and all pets.
We offer live, helpful humans with helpful help—24/7/365. We’ve launched a nationwide rollout of Chewy Vet Care, our in-person veterinary care practices. We are expanding into Canada. Plus, other exciting updates like a new rewards program, new product launches, and all sorts of other stuff we can’t tell you about (yet). All this at a time when pets are becoming more important in our collective lives than ever before.
Today, our brand has endless stories to tell. Tomorrow, that’s where you come in.
