SAP Site Reliability Engineer is a discipline that incorporates aspects of software engineering and applies them to operations whose goals are to create ultra-scalable and highly reliable software systems reducing manual intervention. The candidate will ideally have a solid development background and will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our custom-built automation systems & tools. This includes developing fixes, features, & enhancements to further automate the tasks related to supporting & maintenance of our cloud automation platform.

The successful candidate will be assigned to the team in-charge of managing SAP instances in the Cloud including application integration and performance tuning.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Proactively monitor availability and performance of the SAP Cloud using key performance tools

• Effectively and quickly respond to monitoring alerts, incident tickets and overall technical support for the SAP product suite

• Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding

• Ensure user tickets and monitoring alerts are handled according to pre-defined SLA's for response time, updates and closure

• Develop and automate manual tasks to improve day-to-day monitoring and scalability of time critical operations

• Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level

• Document standard operating procedures to effectively utilize ITIL best practices

Required  Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in MIS/CS or equivalent experience

• Working experience in a Linux environment

• Experience with SAP hosting on public cloud (e.g., Microsoft Azure (preferred), AWS) 

• Experience in implementing, installing, and upgrading SAP systems  

• Experience in execution of SAP Disaster Recovery strategy 

• Experience in SAP systems monitoring using SAP Solution Manager 

• Experience in triage and support/troubleshooting of SAP errors 

• Experience in performance tuning to improve system performance and reliability   

• Experience working in global Agile scrum teams is a plus 

• Ability to write and maintain Perl and Shell scripts to automate processes and enhance productivity (nice to have).

• Outstanding interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills

• Must be reliable and dependable with ability to multi-task across various functions

Selection Criteria

1. Technical knowledge and experience - The role requires demonstrated knowledge on SAP Basis, HANA and fundamental knowledge in either Azure or DevOps.

• For Azure - Familiarity with Azure Cloud administration and the services it offers e.g. resource Groups, App Services, Storage Accounts, Azure AD, Security Center, Service Health, Subscriptions.

• For DevOps - Promote best practices in the areas of automation to maximize enterprise value through efficiency and speed of delivery. Develop and enhance manual operational process by continuously improving through automation and adapting new innovations.  Seek out opportunity to identify and reduce technical debts. Fundamental knowledge in CI/CD and DevOps tools like ADO, Jenkins, Artifactory, Docker, Vault.

2. Teamwork - Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships at all levels with operations, design, projects, vendors, peers, etc. Ability to influence and motivate teams, and work with a variety of disciplines, cultures, and environments. Fosters cooperation and collaboration among individuals on the team and on assigned projects.

3. Leadership - Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, prioritize, schedule and manage work activities to meet customer needs and expectations.
