Chevron is accepting online applications for the Global Tax Engine Support Tax Analyst position through February 04, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. PH Time.

Job Description

This role implements and maintains the automated indirect tax determination system which contributes to the accurate reporting and payment of sales and use tax in the U.S. as well as VAT internationally.  Analyst will be a key member of the Global Tax Engine Project (GTE).  Upon conclusion of project work, analyst will maintain and support the global tax engine. The analyst will support the Product Owner for the Tax Determination work stream of the GTE project, who is responsible leading global implementation efforts for the new tax engine.  

 

As GTE Tax Determination scrum team member:

·         The analyst will perform configuration and design work on the Global Tax Engine project (GTE), coordinate business unit or country implementations, system changes, testing and troubleshooting for the Global Tax Engine.

·         Communicate with customers, business managers, deployment team, and other stakeholders to make sure the goals are clear and aligned with business objectives.

·         Participates in scope and schedule decisions

·         Collaborates with the team to develop and deliver the work

·         Participates in Program Increment and Sprint planning

·         Attends all the required Scrum/SAFe ceremonies

·         May act as tax representative and liaison to the S2P project, Procurement, Business Units and other teams to ensure alignment and capture dependencies.

·         This position may also provide key input for Digital Core requests and ensure tax system dependencies are in sync with project goals.  

Tax Engine Support:

·         Monitors GTE support email inbox and responds to inquiries on a rotational basis.

·         Analyzes and resolves complex transactional issues relating to indirect tax in all aspects of the procurement and payables processes in SAP and SMART by GEP.

·         Advises eProcurement, Accounts Payable invoice processors (field offices and Manila Shared Services Center), Purchase Order/Service Order/WBS project creators and invoice approvers on invoice coding and the functionality of the tax engine.

·         Works closely with Finance, Procurement, and Operations Management in resolving issues and analyzing specific business cases related to transaction taxes.

·         Design and initiate configuration changes to the tax engine to resolve changing indirect tax regulations, requirements, or other issues.

·         Works to continuously automate, improve and streamline processes, while reducing tax fallouts and audit exceptions.

·         Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and orally, with a variety of internal and external audiences.

·         Ability to handle multiple responsibilities to maintain the integrity of the system.

·         Ability to adapt to changes in assignments and/or work requirements.

·         Ability to handle a high volume of work while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.

·         Ability to work effectively with and cooperate with customers in multiple operating locations including business unit finance, eProcurement, Shared Services Centers and suppliers. 

·         Indirect or other tax/accounting (AR, AP, Procurement) experience

·         Experience working with SAP or JDE

·         Experience with Ariba, SMART by GEP or similar eProcurement system

·         Project team and Scrum/Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience

 

Detailed job duties GTE:

·         Perform requirements gathering with BU Finance, Tax, Procurement, and A/P teams globally.  

·         Conduct deep dive sessions with BU Finance, Tax, Procurement, and A/P teams globally.  

·         Configure the tax engine (Thomson Reuters Onesource), ensure data elements are available.

·         Reach out to SAP IT support and begin engagement, identify the level of development needed for SAP integrations

·         Identify the master data elements that would be needed for tax determination

·         Identify gaps risks mitigations, work arounds, process changes, enhancement opportunities and submit enhancement requests

·         Perform end to end and incremental tax config testing, coordinate with S2P, S2D, BU, GEP

·         Perform cutover activities to production

·         Prepare & present demo of TR functionality to BU

·         Support and monitor hypercare post go live
