About the team/role:

Checkr is seeking a Head of Checkr Trust to lead and grow a new product that provides trust and safety solutions to companies and communities. This is an exciting, emerging market, and Checkr has a big head start. Checkr Trust, born from our CheckrX incubator, has seen promising early success. It reimagines how people data can help solve problems, and it already supports leading online marketplaces, dating, entry management, physical security, and home sharing platforms.

The ideal Head of Trust will have a balance of startup and larger company experience to drive customer acquisition, go-to-market strategy, product development, and roadmap planning based on customer feedback and complex data. They should have a track record of launching new products, managing cross-functional teams, and collaborating with customers to solve their core challenges. Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving will be essential. 

The Head of Checkr Trust will report directly to the CEO and work closely with other team leaders across Checkr. They will bring process and strategy to Trust’s direction and influence key elements of Checkr's overall investment in future products. 

What you will do:

  • Full P&L Ownership: You will lead Trust’s GTM and R&D teams, which are already executing on ambitious goals.
  • GTM Ownership: Evangelize Trust and help your GTM team to rapidly acquire customers, quickly implement Trust with customers, and solve customer problems.
  • Product Strategy: Develop a compelling roadmap that positions Trust to succeed in the emerging trust and safety market.
  • Customer and Market Research: Research key customer challenges by building relationships with customers, market leaders, and subject matter experts in the trust and safety space.
  • Project Leadership: Independently lead cross-functional projects involving executive and senior partners across our organization to grow Trust with existing and new customers.
  • Team Leadership: Build and mentor a world class team.

What you will bring:

  • Proven leader with at least 10 years of product management experience and at least 3 years of GM experience owning P&L at a high-growth technology company
  • Experience founding or leading an early-stage startup (Seed to Series B) highly desirable
  • Intellectual curiosity, startup agility, and grit; flies both high and low with the ability to shift contexts, execute across all levels of the business, and lead by example
  • Expertise in technology, ideally in trust and risk-related fields are highly desirable; basic understanding of the risk and regulatory requirements of the market as they pertain to using people data to drive decision-making is a strong plus
  • Outstanding analytical capabilities (quantitative and qualitative), ability to generate key insights and recommendations on critical trust and safety topics
  • Excellence in structured thinking, developing sensible, creative solutions to challenging strategic business problems as well as creativity and “out of the box” thinking that drives innovation
  • Strong executive presence and ability to communicate strategy clearly and simply; ease with executive-level interactions; ability to create clear and simple storylines that resonate with customers
  • Proven track record in hiring, leading, and mentoring a high-performance team in the development and execution of new and uncertain key initiatives
  • Comfort in reaching out and prioritizing cross-functional collaboration in a highly matrixed environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; comfortable managing with ambiguity
  • Highly collaborative and a team player
  • Undergraduate degree required, Engineering or MBA graduate degree desirable

At Checkr, we believe a hybrid work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and encourages connection. Our hub locations are Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA, and Santiago, Chile. Individuals are expected to work from the office 3 days a week. In-office perks are provided, such as lunch four times a week, a commuter stipend, and an abundance of snacks and beverages.

We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop ranges for our roles and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. If this role is remote, we have listed the top to the bottom of the possible range, but we will specify the target range for an exact location when you are selected for a recruiting discussion. The base salary range for this role is $307,168 to $415,580 in San Francisco, CA.
