Checkout.com is actively looking for a driven and agile Senior Manager, Finance Risk and Controls to join our growing Finance team.

Working as part of our Finance function, you'll be a key player partnering with Product, Engineering and Finance teams to document, review and assess the end to end flows for our products, to address the risks associated with financial reporting. Evolving in a high-pace and multifaceted environment, meticulous attention to detail will be key.

The ideal candidate will be a dedicated, laser-focused and highly organised individual, not shying away from high volume of work. You must be a teammate when it comes to getting the job done and assisting wherever you can.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Help document, challenge and build an end to end view of our customer flow control environment to illustrate key risks, controls and processes that impact group financial statements. Your focus will be on the ‘upstream’ activities, which includes the complex services built by Checkout.com to provide our Merchants with best in class payment processing services.
  • Complete testing in line with programmed schedules to independently assess controls to identify gaps and implement remediation plans for upstream activities. You'll work with the Finance Risk and Controls Director to agree on the identified gaps, and suggestions for improvement.
  • Effectively partner and challenge Finance and other business teams such as Engineering and Product on remediation of high risk scenarios and gaps including process redesign and implementation of tactical as well as long term solutions.
  • Partner with teams outside of finance to design and execute a longer term strategy on controls ownership and execution, including shifting controls from downstream finance teams to upstream business/product teams.
  • Work closely with finance teams to help guide and deliver on control design improvements. We love automation and our engineers will need your help to design the most efficient controls.
  • Keep on track of Finance Risk and Control findings and also monitor the progress for internal and external audit actions to ensure they're completed on time and actions are adequate to mitigate the risks identified.
  • Assisting in helping to build and execute the strategic roadmap for the Risk and Controls function to improve the confidence and trust in our financial data and reporting.
  • Coach and mentor a highly skilled team of finance professionals to support their ongoing development to fulfil their potential at Checkout.com.

Qualifications

What we're looking for

  • A professional finance qualification such as the ACA or equivalent with at least 4-5 years post qualification experience.
  • Practical knowledge of IFRS and general accounting principles.
  • Eagerness to learn more about Fintechs and the inner workings of an organisation dealing with high volume transactions.
  • Demonstrable experience managing audit fieldwork preferably within Financial services. You have been the key client contact managing day-to-day client queries across various engagements.
  • You're not afraid to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility to do whatever needs doing to solve problems. You take a proactive approach in resolving complex issues. We get it done!
  • You understand the value of taking a balanced approach to risk and controls to support the growth of the business.
  • The ability to work well in a multinational team environment, and know how to have an impact through others.
