Schwab is looking for a Sr. Manager to join our Stock Plan Services team. This leader will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day responsibilities leading multiple scrum teams. Specific duties include talent development, coaching, recruiting, performance management, career growth and supporting our development, technology and business partners' needs. In addition to this, the leader will be responsible for setting up development best practices, processes and tools to ensure Stock Plan Services initiatives are completed with high quality. Our ideal candidate is a servant leader who can lead multiple parallel initiatives - big and small - with attention to detail, manage business partner expectation, but above all is passionate about technology and coaching engineers. This position will have reporting associates in geo dispersed locations and will need to be an excellent communicator to staff and partners.

What you have

Required Qualifications

LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT

  • 4+ years of leading and/or managing engineering teams, includes project, resource, and offshore management responsibilities.
  • Ability to identify, recruit, hire, and build high-performing teams.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and provide direct, timely performance feedback.
  • Good judgment and the ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Broad knowledge of software engineering: languages, frameworks, techniques, industry trends, etc.
  • Proficient managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, geographically dispersed environment.
  • Deep understanding of SDLC, agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with an ability to identify stakeholders, assess their needs and manage their expectations through effective communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (includes ability to compose and deliver technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various levels of technical and non-technical management).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

TECHNICAL

  • 10+ years of hands-on software development experience including one or more of the following:
    • REST-based web services
    • Server side applications with either Java or C#
    • Javascript frameworks (Angular, React, etc...)
    • SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, Postgres, and MongoDB are preferred).
  • Working proficiency with SCM and DevOps tool suites; examples include Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jenkins, Harness etc.
  • Participate in engineering practices such as code reviews, service discovery, and environment strategy.
  • Knowledge of logging aggregation tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana or similar tools.
  • Solid understanding of resiliency and disaster recovery solutions.

  • Knowledge of cloud computing platform technologies (i.e., AWS, GCP, Azure, PCF).
  • Prior experience in Equity Compensation a plus.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
