The Schwab Center for Financial Research has a dedicated team focused on rigorous operational due diligence research of third-party asset managers in the product categories of separately managed accounts, mutual funds, exchange traded funds, and alternative investments. Through benchmarking against internally developed parameters, the Investment Manager Research Group contributes to the manager selection and oversight in support of a broad set of products and platforms offered through Schwab. As an Operational Due Diligence Analyst, you will use your highly effective communication skills as you work with a broad set of executive level industry partners and internal stakeholders to identify and manage third-party asset management exposure to operational risk.

Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Use qualitative research to develop views on the operational risk of 3rd party investment managers in key areas to include organizational governance, operational infrastructure, compliance, risk management, trading, and asset management
- Highly developed planning skills as you manage multiple projects along competing timelines
- Report and escalate findings within the Operational Due Diligence team and senior level committee structures
- Request, manage, and digest extensive documentation submitted by third party asset management firms
- Manage executive level meetings with third party asset management firms
- Document findings and mitigation efforts
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy yet develop analysis that is aligned with program objectives
- Lead on quarterly or other ad hoc assignments related to third party oversight
- Conduct ongoing daily monitoring of regulatory, industry and company news and filings
- Improve current processes and procedures to further develop operational due diligence
- Foster strong working relationships across the broader Schwab organization
- Ensure investment manager due diligence documentation is up to date and complete
What you have
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5+ years fo experience in financial services
- Ability to travel at roughly 30% during the year
Preferred Qualifications
- CFA, CAIA, and/ or advanced degree is a plus
- Experience in alternatives
- Ability to exercise independent decision making and problem-solving skills
- Team attitude required; ability to handle internal and external relationships is a must
- Outstanding analytical skills, research capabilities and attention to detail
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
