The Retail Web Technology (RWT) organization is responsible for delivering delightful web experiences to Schwab's 30+ million retail clients via its flagship retail client web platform - Schwab.com. Our teams in RWT deliver superior client experiences by engineering robust solutions, that deliver measurable value, in a fun and engaging way. As a Senior Engineering Team Manager in Retail Web technology (RWT), you are responsible for leading one or more software delivery teams. You will ensure they are able to consistently develop high-quality software by coaching and mentoring all facets of software delivery, including design, development, testing, deployment, tooling and support. You will serve as a strong, versatile hands-on technical leader to deliver client facing software solutions that meet Schwab's business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

An ideal candidate will enjoy being part of an impactful and growing engineering team, working in a fast-paced environment, be process and data driven, have strong communication skills, and have extensive experience building platform components leveraging cloud native and distributed architectures. This role requires a leader who has a creative mind set for problem solving with a strong client focused mindset, and ability to forge relationships with many internal and external partners.

This leader will ideally be based in Southlake, TX.

  • System Design and Architecture - Implementing concepts for system design, ensuring compatibility with cloud architectures, and utilizing adaptive approaches for lifecycle models and methodologies
  • Organizational Capability Improvement - Driving organizational performance by continuously assessing, improving, and implementing capabilities

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field is required.
  • 6+ years of people management experience leading teams of 10+ software engineers, preferably in a large, complex and geographically dispersed organization.
  • 8+ years of hands-on development experience with application and service development, or solution architecture building complex, resilient, and highly scalable applications in a large enterprise.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, communicate strategy and vision and influence across the Enterprise is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively inspire and influence teams and partners in delivering technology enabled business solutions that exceed business expectations.
  • Ability to execute at scale in a dynamic environment, build strong relationships and promote collaboration, identify talent, recruit, hire, coach, mentor and build high performing technical teams; experience setting direction, tracking progress, and ensuring accountability.
  • Technical professional experience building scalable enterprise applications with high availability and reliability. Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to detail and the ability to design, execute against strategic goals.
  • Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with an ability to identify stakeholders, assess their needs and manage their expectations through effective communication.
  • Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations. Good verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in Financial Services industry
  • Hands on experience with Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or one of the other major Cloud providers

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
