We are recruiting a driven, results-oriented Senior Scrum Master who shares our passion for technology, innovation and excellence. The Scrum Master is a servant leader responsible for coaching the Scrum team to make progress, learn, and function at the highest level, which includes removing impediments to progress, facilitating meetings, and working with product owners to ensure product backlog is well-refined and ready for the next sprint, and acting as a buffer between the team and any distracting influences. This requires a good understanding of the Scrum framework and the ability to train others on it. This position will be part of Advisor Services organization at Schwab and will focus on driving client-centricity, reducing time to market & increasing efficiency. We are in the midst of re-architecting and rebuilding our core software platform to support our rapidly growing and evolving business. We are moving towards a Test-Driven development and Continuous Integration environment using Bamboo and GITHUB. The candidate will work aside a team of seasoned engineers whose main objective is to maintain all aspects of the overall software development lifecycle and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of software product releases.
What you're good at
- Execute on Scrum Master Responsibilities that include prioritizing and facilitating daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings.
- Influence team members to leverage, follow and support agile software development practices
- Interface with product owner and key stakeholders in Project Management, Business, QA and Technology Operations to ensure high quality delivery of software projects on time and budget
- Track internal and external Project dependencies
- Identify gaps/risks early and establish mitigation plans
- Foster data driven insights and continuous improvement.
- Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress, maintain process documentation.
- Deliver accurate and succinct updates and critical issues (with business impacts) during Scrum of Scrums and team health review meetings
- Serve and support team by removing impediments and partnering with Senior Leaders and Project Managers
- Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition; Identify and remove impediments; prevent distractions and deliver the sprint goal; Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution
- Empower the teams to self-organize; improve the efficiency of the sprint teams; ensure that the team strives to make each increment of functionality potentially releasable.
- Utilize scrum tools and frameworks to achieve efficiency both internally and externally
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Agile/Scrum/Kanban.
- Strong understanding of technical systems, diagrams, components and micro-fronted architecture.
- Expertise in Agile Methodology practices: utilizing the Scrum guide, scaled agile frameworks, ceremonies, transparency practices, and agile management techniques to drive business impact.
- Experiencing developing and implementing strategies to adopt Agile Methodology, such as utilizing the Kanban Method and Agile Manifesto and adjusting plans as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Self-motivated, creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex time-critical problems.
- Ability to exert influence across organizational boundaries without direct authority
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse personality types.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Developer or QA background preferred.
- Deep knowledge of the features and functionality of the team product/application
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolutions skills, collaborative approach to driving results and achieving intended outcomes
- Understanding of BDD and Scaled Agile
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
