Senior Manager, Conflicts and Risk Governance Support

The First Line Risk Management Office (1RMO) is a centralized team of risk professionals supporting all Schwab First Line of Defense (1LOD) Business Units (BUs). 1RMO is responsible for establishing 1LOD governance guidelines to standardize processes, creating an efficient and scalable structure, and streamlining risk management activities across the 1LOD. 1RMO facilitates certain Risk Management Processes across the 1LOD, including Risk Identification & Assessment, Risk Response, Risk Measurement & Monitoring, and Risk Reporting & Escalation.
Within 1RMO, the Governance team is responsible for elevating and focusing governance practices across the 1LOD. Current key activities include Risk Governance, Policy Governance, Product Review Process, Senior & Vulnerable Engagement, and Communications, Conflicts and Disclosures Management.
Reporting to the Director of the 1RMO Governance team, the Senior Manager will support the 1LOD execution of the company-wide Conflicts and Disclosures Management Programs. This role is primarily focused on the Conflicts of Interest Program, with secondary responsibilities supporting the Disclosures Management Program as needed and as directed by 1RMO leadership.
Conflicts of Interest (COI) Program: The 1RMO Governance team facilitates Schwab's COI Program including reviewing and monitoring business practices for identification and management of conflicts, coordinating updates to the COI inventory, partnering on enhancements to the COI application module, facilitating an annual attestation, providing reporting to various committees and business councils as requested, and maintaining First Line of Defense procedures for adherence to the COI Policy and COI Standards.
Disclosure Management Program: The 1RMO Governance team facilitates Schwab's Disclosure Management Program, providing a centralized operating model framework, multiple resources, performance of centralized processes, and First Line of Defense procedures for adherence to the Disclosure Management Standards.

What you have
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 7+ years related work experience that includes risk management responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Post Graduate Degree
- Securities Licenses (such as 7, 9/10, 24, etc.)
- Financial Services, consulting, or regulatory agency experience
- Experience working in the First Line of Defense Business Units or directly with the Business Units
- Strong understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, including Regulation Best Interest, and industry's current perspective and expectations regarding the identification and management of conflicts of interest
- Knowledge of recent regulatory developments, particularly concerning conflicts of interest and disclosure obligations
- Strong experience and / or knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and broker-dealer rules and implementation
- Strong understanding of retail, advisory and brokerage products/services
- Banking experience is a plus
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate and motivate others, and prioritize as needed to drive effective and efficient work product
- Ability to motivate colleagues to get things done effectively; is sought out for counsel and feedback and contributes to cross-functional teams and initiatives
- Ability to strategically streamline or reimagine existing processes
- Ability to influence and drive a vision while being mindful of stakeholders' needs and requirements
- Experience with IBM Open Pages (MyGRC)
- Proficient with Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
