Managing Director, Stock Plan Services

The Managing Director, Stock Plan Technology (SPT) will report to the Managing Director of Client Experience Technology and is responsible for the EquiView Platform, Designated Brokerage Service and associated applications. These applications and platforms are critical to enabling Schwab to serve corporate clients Equity Compensation plans and to provide industry leading monitoring and oversight of employees' stock purchases that may represent inside knowledge. This Managing Director interfaces with the Stock Plan business and other Schwab Technology Services Managing directors in Schwab.com, Mobile, and Cross Enterprise service teams.

The Managing Director role will collaborate with other product and technology teams, as well as lead an engineering organization with a client-focused mindset, responsible for developing frameworks, platform components, and templates consistent with Schwab's architectural standards.
The role can be based in Denver, Austin, or Dallas/Fort Worth.
Key Outcomes:
- Accountable for delivery and production management for all applications in the Stock Plan Technology portfolio.
- Set a vision for the future of the platforms and effectively articulate a multi-year strategy and/or architectural design for our product.
- Influence and negotiate effective solutions and product direction
- Lead an engineering organization developing and hosting equity plans enabling client to effectively manage their equity compensation plans and provide an excellent experience to participants within the Schwab Retail ecosystem.
- Oversight of platform management and production owners responsible for product vision and strategy.
- Provide leadership and oversight of Engineering Software Development teams.
- Lead talent and performance management for their team.
- Partnering with key managing director peers across these functional areas to develop capabilities and services as well as enhance and maintain existing platforms.
- Management of relationship with key vendors and partners
- Lead organization strategy including the optimization of labor mix and roles and responsibilities within team
- Provide highly resilient production support and management of critical platforms.
- Serve as a key member of the CET leadership team who develop and manage the Retail Client Experience across web and mobile for Schwab's more than 36 million client accounts and 5.4 million workplace participant accounts.
- Work closely with the Technology senior leadership including CIO and CTO to deliver new technologies and practices in accordance with the STS application strategy and engineering standards
- Enable the public cloud transformation of Schwab's retail web platforms.
What you have
Required Experience:
- 15+ years of software development management/leadership experience
- 15+ years of direct people leadership experience with 5+ years of leading managers and their teams (leader of leaders)
- Solid background in cloud-native distributed architecture leading a team of software development managers, architects, platform engineers and technical leads with a passion for solving business problems with technology
- Technical professional experience building scalable enterprise applications with high availability and reliability
- 5+ years' experience leading medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies. Demonstrated ability to define, communicate strategy and vision and influence across the Enterprise is essential.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with extensive leading multiple front-line managers and software development organizations.
- Experience leading evolved and changed platforms and systems from a functional and risk perspective.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field is required
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in leading technology delivery function within an Equity Compensation technology organization

- Demonstrated ability to effectively inspire and influence teams and partners in delivering technology enabled business solutions exceeding business expectations.
- Ability to execute at scale in a dynamic environment, build strong relationships and promote collaboration, identify talent, recruit, hire, coach, mentor and build high performing technical teams; experience setting direction, tracking progress, and ensuring accountability.
- Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with an ability to identify stakeholders, assess their needs and manage their expectations through effective communication.
- Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
