Fixed Income Analyst
Pay range: USD $103,500.00 - $180,000.00 / Year

This position will serve as a fixed income expert within the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR), reporting to the Senior Fixed Income Strategist and working with the rest of the SCFR fixed income strategy team to come up with insights and guidance on the bond markets.
Key responsibilities:
Fixed Income Market Research
- Analyze and research the bond market and economic environment on an ongoing basis with emphasis on monetary policy and interest rate environments.
- Monitor fixed income trends, yield curve dynamics, inflation expectations, sovereign, corporate and securitized debt issuance across investment grade, high yield and other specific sectors (financials, energy etc).
- Build qualitative and quantitative framework to assess various fixed income segments (across credit quality and maturity spectrums) relative attractiveness and develop forward looking views consistent with SCFR broad macro and market view.
- Utilize statistical, quantitative and qualitative analysis to support advice to advisors and clients.
- Contribute to developing macro scenarios and implications for fixed income markets.

Communication
- Provide timely insights, market commentary, and bond market guidance for Schwab's clients and prospects. This position will cover all elements of the bond market but will have a focus on the taxable credit markets. Key topics include: outlook for Federal Reserve policy and overall bond yields, guidance on duration, and potential opportunities/risks with various fixed income segments.
- Much of the work behind the scenes will not necessarily make it to client-facing articles, but that work is integral to the final POV that is shared with clients.
- Publish regular timely articles on fixed income market themes that are both educational and actionable.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external partners (business partners and media) as well as clients through writings, presentations and speaking engagements.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, CFA preferred
- Series 7 required
- 7+ years of experience publishing commentary on the fixed income markets, including white papers and articles on a broad variety of topics
- Extensive knowledge of the Bloomberg Terminal, including add-in functions, like the excel add-in and ECAN function
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills, and ability to perform complex data and portfolio analysis ad hoc
Preferred Qualifications:
- Media experience is a plus
- Excellent verbal and communication skills with the ability to explain complex investment concepts to a diverse audience, and ability to think/react quickly when posed a complex question by a media anchor
- Strong decision-making skills and attention to detail
- Ability to think strategically and independently and work in a fast-paced environment
- Highly enthusiastic about working in a team-oriented culture with an exceptional drive to learn
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
