Client Service & Support (CS&S) is the primary live service and trading arm for Schwab Investor Services. CS&S provides service to our retail clients and participants to fulfill our purpose of championing every client's goals with passion and integrity. CS&S builds loyalty with clients and employees one interaction at a time.

We are looking for a Director of Business Strategy who will report to the Head of CS&S and will be a member of the CS&S Sr. Leadership Team (SLT). This role will provide support by enabling strong relationships across the SLT and key partners, be the voice of the business and provide business planning and coordination for the CS&S Sr. Leadership team.

Key outcomes:

  • Assisting the Head of CS&S in decision-making processes and acting as a strategic advisor to maximize efficiency.
  • Contributing critically as a member of the senior leadership team to shape the strategic priorities for the enterprise.
  • Collaborating with the Head of CS&S and SLT to define and execute on the strategic agenda for the CS&S leadership team, including preparing for team meetings, taking detailed notes and ensuring suitable follow-ups, organizing key offsites and related activities.
  • Facilitating effective and efficient communications between the SLT and other executives, and stakeholders across the firm. Identifying opportunities to improve organizational operations, enhance collaboration and effectiveness and accelerate progress towards strategic priorities.
  • Influencing without the authority to ensure key deadlines are met.
  • Developing impactful executive presentations articulating our vision, strategy, and progress for both internal and external audiences.
  • Tracking and synthesizing reporting and analytics of CS&S business results on a biweekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. Creating power point and excel presentations visible to Head of Retail, CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Partnering closely with key cross-functional partners to advance CS&S objectives, including Finance, Employee Communications, Human Resources, Corporate Real Estate, etc.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of CS&S practices and approaches
  • Amplify the CS&S brand, internally and externally

What you have

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years in business strategy experience, preferably in consulting or internal strategy group for large, multi-segment organizations.
  • Experience in a highly matrixed, Fortune 500 company, leading teams and driving towards decisions in organizations at the scope and scale of Charles Schwab.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business judgment and analytical skills.
  • Self-starter mindset and results orientation; ability to manage multiple projects varying in scope and complexity simultaneously, with a high sense of urgency.

Preferred Experience:

  • Must be able to demonstrate a bias for action and have experience executing autonomously on determined strategy.
  • An adaptable team player mentality; high level of comfort with ambiguity and dynamic environments.
  • Exceptional executive presence, emotional maturity, influencing and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to develop and share a point of view and create alignment across all levels of the enterprise.
  • Experience crafting executive presentations for internal and external audiences that articulate our vision, strategy, and progress.
  • Strong executive presence, including demonstrated oral, written and visual communication skills.
  • Strong acumen in financial services.
  • Highly resourceful, adaptable, and creative problem solver who can thrive in a dynamic environment, solve issues as they arise, and drive progress in the face of ambiguity
