The Model Risk Oversight (MRO) team within Corporate Risk Management is responsible for identifying and managing model risk at the company. The MRO Research and Development Team develop software technologies that revolutionize model risk management.
We are looking for a data science software engineer to join a highly engaged, driven, and innovative team at Schwab. We are currently building our validation automation framework which will bring incredible scalability and efficiency to model validations at Schwab. The role requires 70% of coding, testing, and documenting, and 30% of analysis, design, and presentations to key stakeholders.

- Develop solutions using open-source Python libraries and vendor AI/ML platforms, implement feature engineering, data transformation, functions to test various characteristics such as fairness, bias, explainability, interpretability, and data drift.
- Develop pipelines, models, and modules by integrating various Python libraries and platforms to create a reliable, dependable, and maintainable framework for AI/ML.
- Develop model serving and model hosting solution and integrate with the Python infrastructure to enable model serialization, model execution, model performance monitoring, and sensitivity testing for the hosted models.
- Design software solutions according to the established acceptance criteria and programming standards. Develop code to implement solutions in a manner that is straightforward, clear, and consistent with existing software modules and in compliance with the established Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Determine and address root causes of production issues in timely manner. Lead infrastructure related projects with Schwab IT departments, such as identifying and adding new Python libraries to Schwab approved Anaconda repositories.
- Contribute positively to team culture by performing work in a professional manner and making decisions that improve user satisfaction.

What you have
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer/Data Science or related fields
- 2+ year experience in data science or machine learning
- 2+ year experience using Python, in particular Scikit-Learn, Statsmodels, Optuna, TensorFlow, NumPy, Pandas and Matplotlib etc.
- Solid understanding of predictive modeling, statistical modeling, time series modeling, feature engineering, model tuning concepts such as hyperparameter optimization, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Statistics, Computer/Data Science or related field
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience with Angular, Agile and C#
- Experience with Gen AI and Cloud Technologies
- Experience with Atlassian software (Bitbucket, Jira, Bamboo)
