Position Summary
The Senior Advisor works with internal and external partners to promote the mission of the college, foster academic achievement, and provide guidance and support to students in making thoughtful educational choices. This position is under the supervision of Advisement Associate Directors and will plan, direct, and implement programs designed to improve CNM enrollment, student retention, and success. Responsible for tasks that directly impact CNM's Strategic Plan efforts toward enrollment, persistence, retention, and graduation.

  • Provide advanced academic advisement and coaching for credit and workforce learning programs that support the learners' academic and financial goals, as well as career exploration by utilizing CNM and CNMI resources and external community resources.
  • May be responsible for training and/or leading and directing the work of other advisors.
  • Monitor and document student academic progress and intervention strategies, which include tracking students who are at risk or withdraw from classes and targeted outreach to encourage learners to remain on an educational path at CNM to promote student retention.
  • Prepare reports related to key performance indicators for CNM's Strategic Direction initiatives, including, but not limited to, reports that track and analyze data related to student registration and graduation outcomes.
  • Prepare reports for the Advisement leadership team to evaluate advisement strategies; develop and implement new advisement strategies to achieve and improve institutional standards related to enrollment, persistence, retention, and graduation.
  • Support student satisfaction by engaging students through outreach and surveys, and make data-driven decisions to modify methods of advisement to meet student needs.
  • Provides training and workshops related to advisement for internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Lead on projects, collaboration, and communications with other departments (e.g., Office of Data Strategies, Information Technology Services, Marketing and Communication), divisions (e.g., Academic Affairs, Workforce and Community Success, CNMI, and community partners.
  • Serving on college-wide committees representing Student Persistence and Completion will be required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and Four (4) years of demonstrated experience in Advisor duties/Advisement initiatives at CNM

Preferences:

  • Applications must include a resume and cover letter which address the ways in which a candidate meets or exceeds the minimum requirements. Applications without a resume and cover letter will not be considered.
  • This position is full time (40 hours/week). Work may be assigned at any CNM campus and travel between campuses will be required. Position primarily requires on-campus work with partial remote work possible based on department need. Most employees are scheduled for regular shifts between 8 AM-7 PM Monday-Friday however some evening and weekend work will be required to support institutional and departmental needs. Occasional (< 5%) out of town travel may be necessary.
