Position Summary
The library specialist assists patrons with their information needs, managing library resources, managing library collections, providing research assistance, and promoting library programs. You will assist with cataloging, interlibrary loan services, technology support, and coordinating library events and workshops. The specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of a library setting and providing excellent customer service to library users.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Checks library materials in and out, maintaining accurate circulation records.
- Manage, direct, and train library student employees in circulation responsibilities.
- Assemble and arrange display materials to enhance library presentations.
- Troubleshoot problems with hardware and software systems in the library.
- Maintain and repair hardware and software, including computers, media equipment, scanners, copiers, and printers.
- Use library databases and online sources to assist patrons with research inquiries.
- Assist patrons in conducting research and evaluating search results and reference materials.
- Teach students how to access information and research topics related to coursework.
- Aid faculty and staff in locating resources for research projects or studies.
- Deliver patron-centered services to enhance library experiences.
- Teach classes and provide instruction on information resources and basic information literacy skills.
- Maintain information access aids, including electronic pathfinders and online tutorials.
- Collaborate with faculty to select information resources and training aids for classes.
- Evaluate and select new books, videos, and materials for library collections.
- Coordinate interlibrary loans, organize library materials, and maintain accurate circulation records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- AND
- Two (2) to three (3) years of full-time experience
- AND
- One (1) year of related library experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience or enrolled in Master's of Library and Information Science program
