Position Summary
The Learning Commons Supervisor oversees the operations and activities of a learning commons or library in at CNM. You will coordinate resources, technology, and services to support students and faculty in their learning and research endeavors. The supervisor collaborates with faculty to develop instructional materials and provides guidance on information literacy skills. Your role will involve scheduling coordination, ensuring operational functionality of facilities, and escalating technical issues to the Information Technology Services department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage staff, which includes prioritizing, and assigning work; conduct performance evaluations; ensure staff is trained; ensure employees follow procedures; maintain a healthy, and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Provide guidance and assistance to lab users and employees, ensuring a conducive learning environment.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from managers, students, CNM faculty, and staff members.
- Research, implements, modifies, and maintains computerized and multimedia tutorial programs and equipment to enhance learning experiences.
- Conduct training sessions for tutors on the use of tutorial programs and assist students in navigating equipment and software.
- Manage inventory of computers, printers, and academic support materials, coordinating textbook purchases, syllabi collection, and distribution of study materials.
- Cultivate collaborative relationships with faculty and staff to identify technology and academic support needs for the development and delivery of programs.
- Assess campus needs and identify opportunities for enhancing academic support services.
- Organize student and tutor-led study groups and workshops to support student success.
- Market academic support programs to faculty and students through classroom visits and student orientations.
- Implement procedures to enhance efficiency within the labs and address user complaints promptly.
- Maintain proficiency in software applications to provide user support and training.
- Develop, implements, and monitors usage tracking surveys and reports using specialized database software.
- Provide comprehensive training to tutors on tutoring techniques, learning styles, and strategies for students with diverse needs.
- Assist the Director in designing and implementing facilities plans to improve learning spaces.
- Participate in departmental, college-wide, and community-based committees to contribute to institutional goals.
- Collaborate with multiple departments and campus committees to support programs.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree
- OR
- Bachelor's degree AND Two (2) years of related experience
Preferences
- Experience supervising tutors
- Experience working in a college tutoring center
