Position Summary
The Lead Tutor manages a team of tutors, ensuring the smooth operation of tutoring programs, and providing academic support to students. You will coordinate tutoring sessions, assigns tutors to students, and monitor the progress of both tutors and students. The Lead Tutor develops tutoring materials, conducts training sessions for tutors, and collaborates with other educational professionals to enhance tutoring services.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and guidance to supplemental instruction tutors, who are typically students, ensuring they support their peers in mastering course material.
- Develop cooperative relationships with faculty, staff, and students to help coordinate tutoring requests and enhance the effectiveness of the supplemental instruction program.
- Participate in appropriate teams or task forces both within and outside the institution, collaborating with partners to improve academic support services and student outcomes.
- Coordinate training sessions for supplemental instruction tutors, providing them with the necessary skills and strategies to assist students in reviewing course material and mastering academic content.
- Organize and facilitate workshops, study groups, and other academic support activities designed to enhance student learning and academic success.
- Coordinate marketing activities such as class visits and new student orientations to promote awareness of the supplemental instruction program and encourage student participation.
- Guide students in selecting and using instructional materials, including textbooks, calculators, software, and other resources relevant to their coursework.
- Maintain a weekly calendar of available hours for student appointments, ensuring efficient scheduling and accessibility of tutoring services.
- Maintain instructional materials, including textbooks, calculators, software, and other resources, ensuring their availability and usability for students and tutors.
- Collect and analyze data related to the effectiveness of the supplemental instruction program, using findings to inform program improvements.
- Participate in required tutor training sessions and pursue ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay up to date with best practices in academic support services.
- Perform other related similar responsibilities and level as assigned, contributing to the mission of the academic support services department.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion of 30 hours postsecondary course work, to include college algebra AND Nine (9) hours of coursework in the discipline.
- Content courses must be completed with a grade of B or better
- Experience tutoring college students
