Position Summary
Under the direction of the Manager of IT Security Operations, the Information Security Analyst supports the day-to-day cybersecurity operations of Central New Mexico Community College. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining security tools, monitoring alerts, assisting in incident response, and ensuring the protection of IT assets and data. The position requires hands-on experience with security technologies such as FortiGate Firewalls, Microsoft Defender, Proofpoint, and endpoint security platforms. The Administrator works closely with the IT Security Operations team to help enforce security policies, investigate threats, and contribute to a proactive cybersecurity environment.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the daily operations of the IT Security Operations team in alignment with departmental goals and directives.
- Assist in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining FortiGate Firewalls under the guidance of senior staff.
- Help administer and fine-tune Microsoft Defender and Proofpoint systems to ensure effective endpoint and email protection.
- Follow and help enforce established cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Monitor alerts from Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services and escalate potential threats for further investigation.
- Perform vulnerability scans and assist with documentation and remediation efforts.
- Provide input on improving security workflows and participate in team discussions for enhancing the cybersecurity environment.
- Maintain documentation related to third-party security tools and assist with vendor coordination as directed.
- Assist in delivering security awareness materials and supporting training sessions.
- Collect and compile cybersecurity data for reporting and trend analysis.
- Participate in deployment and update activities for security tools and software.
- Support compliance efforts by maintaining records and ensuring adherence to security standards.
- Stay current on cybersecurity threats and tools through ongoing training and professional development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in a Cyber Security Related Discipline or in a related
- OR
- Associates Degree in a Cyber Security Related Discipline or in a related field and three (2) years of related experience
