Position Summary
Under general direction of the Vice President or Associate Vice President for Finance and Operations, this position is responsible for ensuring that grants and critical proposals are aligned with CNM's Strategic Direction, goals, and objectives while considering relationships between CNM, CNM Foundation, CNM Ingenuity, and local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and city, state, and federal government. This position serves as lead internal consultant to college faculty, administrators, and executives on grant and critical proposal development.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs the activities of the Grants Office, including setting policies and procedures around pre-award grant development and post-award grant reporting and compliance activities for effective grants management.
  • Manages the budget and budget requests for the Grants Office.
  • Provides leadership to a diverse staff including supervising, team building, training, and developing Grants Writers, Grants Specialists, and Student Employees.
  • In consultation with Executive staff, develops and communicates grant-seeking priorities in alignment with strategic planning goals.
  • Serves as internal resource/expert regarding grant development trends, models, and best practices; applies relevant information to grant development efforts; anticipates grant development needs and positions the department, College, Foundation, and CNM Ingenuity to respond.
  • Collaborates with CNM's Office of Data Strategies to support data-driven decision making in regards to grant funding opportunities.
  • Collaborates with Budget Office to integrate departmental budget requests into formal grant seeking and vice-versa.
  • Oversees grant management processes, including coordinating with staff from the Office of Data Strategies and Contracts and Grants Accounting, in support of grant PIs (Project Managers) to ensure performance, related documentation, and reporting are in compliance with grant requirements.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and tracking departmental performance metrics and integrating these into Finance and Operation's KPIs and CNM Strategic Direction.
  • Develops, coordinates and maintains an annual calendar of planned and ad-hoc grant development activities, including grant-seeking and proposals related for the College.
  • Develops and disseminates grant development resources to the college (such as Needs Assessment Form, Logic Models, and Training) while educating CNM staff about grant opportunities and processes.
  • Oversees integration of Grants Management data and processes into the college's Constituent Relationship Management database.
  • Conducts research and writes proposals for grant funding opportunities.
  • Conducts proactive outreach to the CNM community, including CNM Ingenuity and CNM Foundation, to determine current and future needs regarding key projects and critical proposals.
  • Supports articulation of community needs to internal audiences and vice-versa.
  • Manages development of large-scale proposals across multiple CNM divisions/departments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifcations:

  • Master's degree in English, Education, Communications, Public Administration, Business or related field and (5) years of professional experience where the major duties included professional writing, proposal development and/or project management.
  • AND
  • One (1) year experience supervising personnel.
  • OR
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Communications, Public Administration, Business or related field and (7) years of professional experience where the major duties included professional writing, proposal development and/or project management.
  • AND
  • One (1) year experience supervising personnel.
