The PharmacyOne team manage Alliance Healthcare's range of dispensing schemes with customers ranging from independent pharmacies to national chains. The team interacts with numerous departments within a large, market leading company as well as external companies across the pharmaceutical industry.

The Commercial Analyst is responsible for the calculation of brand equalisation rebates. This offer has around 1,600 members, ranging from national chains to independent pharmacies, and markets products for over 60 manufacturer partners. The process includes setting rebate prices, identifying and resolving abnormal purchasing behaviour and interpreting prescription data from multiple sources to ensure rebates are correctly calculated and compliance is measured accurately.

You will be a key contact for our sales teams and assist them with customer queries as well as direct contact with pharmacies, including some of the largest pharmacy chains in the UK, so it is important to have a professional manner and to be an effective problem solver.

There are multiple internal software packages used but a lot of work will involve Microsoft Excel, so a good understanding is required. There are numerous monthly processes utilising these packages which need to be updated, examined and analysed in order to identify required actions or be provided to both internal and external stakeholders, so you will need to have a very high attention to detail.

You will be utilising your analytical skills to identify insights into the purchasing behaviour of our customers in order to formulate and action commercial plans with the goal of growing our customer base, improving our offerings and increasing profitability.

Principal Accountabilities of the role include:

  • Calculation of rebates for our brand equalisation offer
  • Utilising analytical skills to identify commercial opportunities and plan sales activities
  • Support and give guidance to sales teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing critical regular reports to multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with the delivery of the commercial strategy

We would value the following:

  • Intermediate / Advanced Microsoft Excel, including vlookups and pivot tables, experience with other more complex formulae and macros would be desirable
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools including 365, PowerPoint, Word and Teams
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight monthly schedules
  • Understanding of commercial drivers
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Methodical and analytical mind-set
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical industry would be beneficial but not essential
