The Celonis Legal team is an energetic and proactive group of experts in their field, focused on identifying, avoiding, mitigating and solving challenges within the Celonis business. We sit at the heart of the Celonis organization and are proud to be seen as valued business partners across all aspects of the business. Reporting into the Chief Legal & Trust Officer, AGCs lead our GTM & Product, Corporate, Employment and Ethics & Compliance practices. The Senior Counsel, DACH Commercial will sit within the GTM practice, initially reporting to our Director, EMEA Commercial.

The Role:
The Senior Counsel, DACH Commercial position is a valuable role in the company’s Legal group and is primarily responsible for supporting Celonis’ GTM organization in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as providing additional legal support as requested. As Celonis’ home market, DACH is a critically important region for Celonis and the Senior Counsel, DACH Commercial will work alongside senior Celonis stakeholders and many of the largest companies and organisations in DACH. The primary focus of the role is negotiating key commercial customer transactions in DACH, with regular opportunities to work on matters around the globe more generally. A successful candidate will be expected to provide pragmatic, creative, collaborative and solution-oriented legal support throughout the company. As a self-starting, experienced communicator and problem-solver, the Senior Counsel, DACH Commercial must be able to prioritize effectively and drive issues to resolution within a team environment focused on growth, execution and process improvement.
The work you’ll do:
- Draft, review, analyze and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including cloud and on-premise subscriptions, professional services agreements, GenAI terms and data processing agreements
- Develop and maintain commercial contract templates
- Consistently anticipate, analyze, communicate, and propose mitigation strategies for potential risks in contractual, regulatory, compliance, financial and legal areas
- Provide training on a variety of topics to sales and other cross-functional teams
- Contribute to ongoing process improvement, reduction of friction and problem solving within areas of Legal and Compliance
- Seamlessly partner with senior stakeholders (including C-Suite and Executive Management) within the Celonis organization, including but not limited to Sales, Deal Desk, Finance and Compliance
- Further Celonis’ business, financial and risk management objectives through diligent, proactive and creative lawyering
The qualifications you need:
- Law degree from a highly-regarded university
- Qualified lawyer in relevant jurisdiction
- Business fluency in English and German
- 7+ years post-qualification experience in law firm and/or in-house legal department including significant drafting and negotiation experience in relation to SaaS and professional services agreements
- Experience in supporting quota-carrying, enterprise-level sales personnel
- Working knowledge of regulatory matters, including international data protection, corporate compliance and applicable EU regulations
- Ability to think “outside the box” and address complex matters with creative solutions
- Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication and negotiation skills
- Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude
- Ability to independently organize, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
- Ability to maintain strong working relationships with high-performing internal clients and work effectively with remote team and management members
- Sound and practical business judgment
