Purpose

CarMax Auto Finance is seeking a Senior Analyst to join our Strategic Planning and Delivery (SP&D) team where you will be a member of a high functioning agile team supporting a fast-moving array of business and technical partners. This will include working with the business and IT owners to refine our user story cards, write and track business requirements, and be able to present them to the technical team. Our Business Analyst excels at teamwork and is comfortable building relationships and interfacing with both technical and non-technical resources. Business Analysts are the analytical authorities at CarMax. Apply analytical rigor to CarMax's proprietary, industry-leading data to formulate and test theories about specific business areas. Leverage your insights in combination with advanced analytical techniques to develop insightful metrics and interactive dashboards. The ability to self-organize and multi-task in a highly collaborative team environment is a must for this role.

What you will do

Business Requirements Analytics and Analysis

  • Write effective business requirements that technology can utilize to design and code and project managers/delivery managers understand to enable them to track the strategic direction of projects and inclusion of requirements thru to delivery.
  • Identify opportunities via analytics and work collaboratively to develop and propose solutions to the appropriate business or technology owner.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with project managers/delivery managers to enable tracking and reporting out on requirements requested vs. implemented for status updates, job aid documentation, and training communication needs, as well as return on investment (ROI) tracking.
  • Write initial test scripts for user acceptance testing (UAT) and post go-live to ensure requirements are effective and can be effectively utilized by CAF associates.
  • Maintain an inventory of requirements to draw from, compare, etc. for efficiency in business requirement writing and analysis.
  • Propose analysis for ROI projections and actuals, examples, performing screen function/use testing and transcribed analytics to understand themes.
  • Perform exploratory analysis and specific interaction analysis for various stakeholder needs and develop analytics and reporting to support tracking of existing requirements and continuous monitoring to help drive key decisions and training needs.
  • Research tools needed for quality and efficiency of team and partnership interactions: such as LeanKit, Dashboards, etc.

ROI

  • Identify, calculate, and document metrics for ROI, to provide input into the creation of business case and status reporting.
  • Gather analytics to track value added ROI metrics.
  • Track and reconcile team budget and vendor invoices.

Growth and Training

  • Create training on tools, such as LeanKit for the SP&D team.
  • Connect and calibrate with Analyst Community Of Excellence and other analyst communities
  • Coach more junior analysts in the core functions of the role.

Intake Process and Initiative Inventory and Cards

  • Create cards and review intake items within the SP&D Intake Process.
  • Support project management team by tracking initiative KPI/OKRs related to business requirements.
  • Maintain CAF Initiative Inventory in partnership with Program Management team.
  • Create and maintain reports and dashboards needed by project teams.

Communication Focus

  • Create communication dashboards and meeting preparations for business and technology partners.
  • Tailor communications to various audiences with different interests and/or levels of familiarity with the technology.
  • Create initial draft of job aid documentation and training material to partner with business owners and CAF Learning team to finalize the necessary documentation as needed for CAF end user community as it relates to requirements built.

strong organization and time management skills.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent experience in relevant field required
  • 2-3 years' experience in Business Analyst or Data Analyst positions or related field required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • CAF or other finance company experience preferred
