The importance of hiring Staff Software Engineer, Users Platform

As our Staff Software Engineer, Users Platform, you'll take the reins on designing, building, and implementing essential microservices for Carewell.com. You'll start off as a team of one, but eventually lead a talented team of engineers in tackling core functionalities like user profiles, CRM, authentication, real-time events, and history, directly impacting the experience of our caregiver community. This is a pivotal leadership role where you can shape the future of our platform. 

What you’ll do:

  • Lead building and maintaining microservices for user profiles, CRM, authentication, real-time events, and history.
  • Define the technical vision and roadmap for these microservices, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical best practices.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into feasible and scalable architectural solutions.
  • Design, develop, and deploy secure and performant microservices using Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Typescript, React, Feathers, and modern toolchains.
  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle for assigned microservices, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment within your team, promoting knowledge sharing, code reviews, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in microservices, cloud platforms, and web development.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges and bottlenecks within the microservices ecosystem.
  • Contribute to the overall platform architecture and infrastructure decisions.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and expertise.

What you’ll need:

  • 10+ years of experience as a software engineer with a proven track record of leading and mentoring teams.
  • 7+ years of experience building and deploying microservices architectures.
  • 3+ years of experience with high scale ecommerce
  • In-depth knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, including Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Kubernetes, and relevant services.
  • Expertise in Typescript and modern Javascript frameworks like React, Feathers, Sequelize, Drizzle, etc.
  • Expertise in JWT, OAuth, OpenID, and other authentication and security frameworks and protocols.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment tools like GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms like DataDog.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Passion for building high-quality software and a desire to learn and adapt to new technologies.
