Senior Project Manager - Enterprise Risk Management

Capital One's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team has responsibility for helping the overall organization identify, manage, and mitigate key risks that may keep the company from achieving its strategic objectives. ERM is currently seeking a Senior Manager who will be responsible for managing implementation and enhancement projects for a diverse set of initiatives, with a broad range of complexity and scale.

This Senior Manager role requires the ability to develop and manage project plans, revising as needed to meet changing needs and requirements; leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent; maintain key project and process documentation and manage risks / issues as appropriate; and effectively communicate to ensure delivery. This role will effectively drive project and process efforts by applying their expertise, organization, and influencing skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strong project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work in a dynamic environment. In addition, very strong communication and partnership skills are essential for engaging with key stakeholders to manage, inform, and influence outcomes.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage both internal projects within ERM, as well as enterprise-wide risk management methodology and process integrations and enhancements that can vary in scope and impact
  • Developing and managing project plans in a dynamic environment, with tools and techniques appropriate for the project's scale and complexity
  • Ensuring projects are structured to mitigate risks, be delivered on time, with supporting artifacts well documented and of high quality
  • Leveraging problem solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans and deliverables meet intent
  • Partnering cross-functionally in larger efforts, to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery
  • Building relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
  • Engage in peer-peer community and support; potentially lead other project managers or project support
  • Engage with and support audits and regulatory exams, addressing requests in a timely manner
  • Participate in and execute other special projects for the team as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of project management experience
  • At least 2 years of process management, risk management, audit or change management experience
  • At least 2 years of experience using project management tools (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies (RAID), Waterfall, Agile)
  • At least two years of experience using Google or Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Scrum Master certification, Lean Six Sigma certification or Internal Auditor certification
  • 1+ years of experience in the financial industry
