Principal Associate, HR Project Manager- Chief of Staff
The Principal Associate, Top of House Chief of Staff role supporting the Capital One Tech, Enterprise Services, Software, Business Cards & Payments, and Global Payment Network portfolio is responsible for driving the strategy, operations and culture that power our HR Business Partner team, executives, and associates across the business. This role will put you at the center of our talent strategies and ensure that the most challenging, cross-functional projects are tackled with a data driven approach and an eye toward innovation, simplicity, transparency, and scalability. You will work in close, trusted partnership with the senior HR leaders, the Leadership Team, and the entire HRBP community across the portfolio to deliver delightful experiences that shape the direction and outcomes of our talent and organizational strategies.

The role will involve:
- Partnering with the Chief of Staff (COS) team across the organization, HRBPs, and partners to design and drive a high performing team culture with a deep commitment to talent development
- Leading end-to-end execution and strategy of our Executive Talent and Performance Management processes and partnering with HR leaders, HRBPs, and HR partners to design and deliver additional key strategic projects
- Connecting dots and influencing across multiple cross-functional teams, client organizations and groups without direct authority, while also collaborating to identify solutions that can achieve shared results
- Building and executing on a comprehensive talent strategy that aligns with business imperatives, goals, and objectives
- Managing and performing on HR-related process or programs, investigates and make recommendations and decisions in gray space, initiate program/process improvements to mitigate risks and optimize delivery
- Providing thought partnership to the portfolio's leadership to drive project delivery, lead workstreams, plan and manage events, etc.; create action plans and path forward for horizontal projects and autonomously prioritize work based on impact and urgency
- Developing routines and materials to increase leadership effectiveness; facilitate the operating rhythm for the organization by leading a team to support across a wide variety of forums (leadership team meetings, Town Halls, etc.)
- Designing and delivering on effective internal communication strategy; leading and developing change management plans in support of organizational changes
- Monitoring and analyzing metrics for all initiatives and solutions, and making recommendations to drive improvements to enhance value and sustainability
- Staying current with external trends, best practices, and innovations and infusing these into the work products and client consulting and partnership
- Managing various governance routines, including building materials for regulator and compliance forums

- Working with several partners to help achieve our team goals, such as collaborating with Learning & Development to create/deliver an development program for HRBPs and the HR4HR DIB team on HR DIB initiatives as examples
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or military experience
- At least 3 years of work experience in Talent Management, Leadership Development, Organizational Development, HR Business Partnership, or on a Chief of Staff team
- At least 2 years of experience in project or process management
- At least 1 year of data analysis experience conducting analyses to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability to influence leaders, think creatively, participate fully and work collaboratively to develop and execute product strategies, solutions and experiences
- Strong forward lean; proactively anticipates business needs, manages stakeholder expectations, and operates exceptionally in gray space
- Skilled at balancing both disruption and consensus-building while driving forward complex initiatives
- Exceptional coaching and consulting skills, with demonstrated self-confidence and an ability to adapt content and conversations to meet the needs of the audience
- Track record of complex project management, a bias to action and extraordinary attention to detail
- Impeccable judgment and ability to balance the needs of the organization, leaders and associates
- Passion for learning with a growth mindset
- Discretion in handling highly sensitive issues

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Project Manager
Richmond, VA: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Project Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
