Principal Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis

We are seeking a strategically minded analyst and forward leaning problem solver to support the Tech & Digital organization. As a Principal Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), you will be responsible for ad hoc financial analysis, executive reporting, engaging with stakeholders and business partners, and managing project timelines & deliverables. These projects aim to maximize P&L performance while providing leaders with key insights, influencing Technology strategy and business outcomes. More specifically, the teams you will support are responsible for some of the most impactful work at Capital One, including our core business platforms for credit card and consumer banking services, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Focus on teamwork and building long-term trusted partnerships, both within the team and beyond, are essential to success. Strong interpersonal skills, poise, a sense of humor, and a willingness to roll up one's sleeves and tackle diverse challenges are invaluable in this role.

Core responsibilities will include:

Example Projects:

  • Establish the destination for certain elements through market research, the evaluation of economic trends, and our competitive positioning.
  • Determine how to effectively leverage Capital One's data and technology infrastructure to differentiate ourselves in particular markets or business segments.
  • Diagnose the performance and strategy of our competitors to enhance our strategic positioning.
  • Communicate strategic vision and outcomes to members of our Executive Committee.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years experience in financial analysis
  • At least 3 years experience with financial modeling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's Degree in Finance
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • At least 4 years of experience in financial analysis
  • At least 4 years of experience with financial modeling
  • At least 3 years of experience in strategic analysis & planning
  • At least 1 year of experience using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, or a combination
