Director, Mainstreet & New to Credit - Card Risk

As a Director of Card Risk you'll be responsible for working with Business Executives and their teams to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. You will apply your risk management, process management, project management and analytical skills to our highest profile Risk Management processes and strategic initiatives.

You will lead a team of risk managers to support some of our largest US Card segments, Mainstreet and New to Credit, through the product development lifecycle from ideation to execution while ensuring Capital One's continued stability and success. Directors are expected to partner with Executives and their teams to evaluate risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded as well as lead a team of associates to monitor and assess the health of our business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of professionals to advise and consult business teams and other key stakeholders to help develop well-designed products, processes, and supporting technologies
  • Play a key role in contributing to the effective design and delivery of our risk management strategy while partnering with the business on key initiatives
  • Lead risk related initiatives such as process/ control improvements; including partnering with the business to develop process hierarchies and control formalization
  • Collaborate internally and with our risk community (e.g. risk managers, risk leads, IRM groups, business risk offices, front line process owners) to mature our risk management practices
  • Leverage data and analytics to manage risk, create visibility to business health, and proactively identify risks and trends
  • Actively support internal and external audits and exams
  • Stay abreast of the changing regulatory environment and understand the impacts to the business areas and lead mitigation efforts across impacted areas
  • Set and deliver on our well-managed agenda
  • Set direction, manage expectations and lead cross-functional teams
  • Foster an environment of trust, collaboration & belonging while leading a team of risk managers that facilitate the risk event life cycle

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of Financial Services experience or at least 4 years of Risk Management experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in Project or Process Management
  • At least 2 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree
  • 7+ years of Financial Services risk management experience
  • 7+ years of experience in Project or Process Management
  • 5+ years of internal strategy or management consulting experience leading cross functional financial services projects and programs
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Business Process Management Certification - Six Sigma Lean, Green Belt or Black Belt certification, Agile Coach certification

This role is hybridmeaning associates typically spend about half their time (2-3 days per week) in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting. Mondays and Fridays are enterprise- wide virtual work days. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdayare in-person days for associates to spend time together working in our beautifully-designed team areas.
