The Students & Grads team builds Capital One's pipeline of top junior talent by delivering a program that communicates our innovation and impact while developing outstanding associates at the start of their careers. We are looking for an exceptional teammate to own the planning of our signature internship events along with engagement strategy for our program. The ideal candidate will have strong planning, organization, and communication skills; laser customer focus; and meticulous attention to detail.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Partner with key program stakeholders to plan and execute signature program events in both virtual and in-person capacities (onboarding, experience weeks, speaker events, etc.) in accordance with Capital One's support process, standards, and systems
  • Connect with key leaders and subject matter experts across the enterprise to organize a robust and engaging learning experience for interns across key pillars of the program, including technical training; professional development; networking; diversity, inclusion, and belonging; etc.
  • Develop and implement intern engagement strategies to help build a community that leads to retention of top talent and strengthens Capital One's brand
  • Own strategy and execution of mentorship programs, engaging full-time associates to support interns as they acclimate to the organization
  • Prepare and deliver training and resources for intern managers, serving as an end-to-end point of contact throughout the internship experience
  • Handle intake for escalated associated issues, manage upkeep of issue tracker, and serve as on-first POC for associate issues
  • Manage program communications, including drafting and editing information to be distributed through team calendar, Google Site, shared mailbox, newsletters, and Slack
  • Manage shared inbox and calendar invites for intern program
  • Maintain upkeep of Google Drive and Google Sites spaces including deckware, rosters, & access
  • Engage with leaders across the company to ensure positive experience for program associates
  • Build and own relationships with internal clients, stakeholders, and external vendors

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or military experience
  • At least 1 year of experience working in Event & Logistics Management or at least 1 year of experience in Human Resources or a combination of both


Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in Event Management, Recruiting, Human Resources or Marketing or combination.
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience with event management
  • Experience interpreting metrics and trends
  • Ability to quickly and effectively adapt to change
  • Proven problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to embrace new systems and process enhancements
  • Willingness to work flexible hours due to varying needs within the program
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity when interacting with all customer contacts

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $71,200 - $81,300 for HR Associate

Plano, TX: $64,700 - $73,900 for HR Associate

Richmond, VA: $64,700 - $73,900 for HR Associate

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
