Capital Solutions Group (CSG) is the investment team responsible for performing research and making investment recommendations in support of Capital Group's multi-asset portfolio solutions effort. The multi-asset portfolio solutions include but is not limited to: American Funds and American Funds Insurance Series based '40 Act fund-of-funds and solutions; Global client target date and model platforms; PCS model portfolios; institutional solutions overseen by Capital Group.

The Solutions Capital Markets Assumptions (CMA) Analyst will join a team of collegial, honest and intellectually rigorous researchers in Capital's investment organization. As a Solutions Analyst, you will contribute to the team in the following ways:

  • Work in a team of Analysts, Research Director, Portfolio Managers and business management specialists to perform relevant research and deliver recommendations in support of Capital Groups multi-asset portfolios solutions platforms.
  • Bring expertise and provide thought-leadership on research for developing capital markets assumptions for global equity and fixed income asset classes
  • Utilize industry publications, industry databases, internal proprietary databases and additional internal resources as needed to compile research
  • Contribute to / initiate deep dive and/or thematic research that cuts across global markets
  • Perform research and present recommendations for Capital Market Assumptions to the Oversight Committees to consider as inputs for multi-asset portfolio research and design
  • Develop and maintain proprietary models and resources supporting the above activities, involving collaboration with cross functional teams, including IT
  • Communicate methodology and rationale behind our Capital Market Assumptions with team and internal stakeholders
  • Manage relationships with internal subject matter experts who provide ongoing inputs across a variety of asset classes

  • You have strong academic credentials with advanced degree in mathematics, science, finance, economics or econometrics; PhD degree in economics or finance would be a plus
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated research and development experience of global capital market assumptions in multiple currencies. Background in alternatives would be a plus
  • You have proven analytical and problem-solving skills with an understanding of time-series analysis, asset pricing theory, econometric models, currency modeling, and macroeconomics
  • You have experience programming in a high-performance language for technical computing (Python and/or R and/or MATLAB), SQL, and other databases and systems as they apply to optimization, simulation, scenario, and statistical analysis
  • You are an advanced user of other databases/quantitative tools as well as Bloomberg/FactSet
  • You have strong written and oral communication skills to engage with a variety of audiences including investment professionals, distill complex concepts into simple language and deliver research/insights to a diverse group of associates
  • You are organized, detail-oriented and results driven, committed to delivering research and recommendations in a timely manner
  • Your skills and experience allow you to develop recommendations and support assertions with relevant quantitative and qualitative data
  • You are proactive and work collaboratively in a team environment

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
