We are looking for a high-quality salesperson (Senior Business Development Associate) to join our Amsterdam based sales team which is currently composed of three experienced Relationship Managers (RM's). The Amsterdam based sales team is part of Capital's Europe Asia Distribution Group which currently manages relationships totalling $80 billion. Capital Group as a whole manages close to $2.8 trillion, and is the largest active manager in the world.

In this role, you will work with the Relationship Manager(s) responsible for developing Capital's institutional and wholesale business in the Netherlands and Nordics. You will act as the main day-to-day contact between prospects and Capital, playing a key role in the generation of leads and meetings (including cold calling) and then working with the RM to win business. The role will report to one of the three RMs covering clients and prospects in the Netherlands and Nordics.

The role is based in our Amsterdam office which opened in 2015 and consists of 3 sales associates, 2 marketing associates, 1 client service associate and an assistant. We expect the successful candidate to focus their time primarily on the Netherlands but possibly with a few short trips to the Nordics throughout the year as well.

Responsibilities:

Target market

  • Institutional and wholesale prospects and clients in the Netherlands and Nordics

Sales process

  • Supporting our work with the large and smaller institutions and banks across the region
  • Generating, preparing for and participating in prospecting meetings with RMs
  • Making outbound calls to introduce Capital and secure meetings with prospects
  • Representing Capital at industry conferences / seminars, ensuring we maximise prospecting opportunities by preparing thoroughly prior to the event, proactively networking during the event and diligently following up afterwards
  • Handling prospect requests for information through multiple channels (inbound calls, web searches etc)
  • Prospect meeting preparation and coordination of follow-up items
  • Proactively managing and resolving internal issues relating to winning business (such as expediting fee discussions)
  • Liaison with Investment Professionals, other institutional RMs, (Senior) Business Development Associates and internal departments (Marketing, Fee Consulting, RFP team, Legal etc) as part of the sales cycle
  • Maintaining information on prospects, target institutions and updating critical management information about prospects and clients into the required systems
  • Coordination and occasionally customisation of materials for use with prospects to create interest and build relationships
  • Over time, owning a defined set of clients including the development of a sales strategy, setting up prospecting meetings and promoting Capital. These responsibilities will grow as you develop more experience at Capital and progress towards becoming an associate RM.

Strategic market planning

  • Market research on our Netherlands and Nordics target institutions
  • Development and exploration of new areas for business development
  • Involvement in business planning alongside RM's and working with Business Management
  • Preparation of management reports to reflect the new business effort
  • Liaison with various industry organisations

Internal projects and Departmental participation

  • Work as part of a collegial team of (Senior) Business Development Associates that shares ideas and best practices
  • Work as part of a broader European Distribution group committed to building Capital's business in Europe

Skills:

  • High quality interpersonal skills, especially influencing skills
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Demonstrable experience building new business (including cold calling and relationship building)
  • Experience of presenting to prospects, consultants, clients or colleagues
  • High energy, hard-working, enthusiastic, focused and professional
  • Financial / Investment and Asset Management knowledge
  • Comfortable discussing financial topics with prospects (product and asset class characteristics, macro themes etc)
  • Master's degree
  • Fluent in both Dutch and English, written and spoken
  • Salesforce knowledge preferable
  • Related professional exams or studying towards CFA

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
