The Fundamental Research Group (FRG) is a global team of Equity and Fixed Income Research Associates who deliver high quality, impactful research support and insights to the Investment Group.
Our team of FRG Research Associates, Analysts and Specialists work with Investment Group stakeholders and peers within the FRG to deliver research, financial models, data, and analysis on companies and industries that inform investment decisions. They are responsible for projects and tasks of growing complexity, seeking direction and guidance from stakeholders as appropriate. FRG Associates are highly motivated and self-directed, taking an interest in professional development, attending training sessions, and identifying skills needed to strengthen financial acumen and technical capabilities. FRG Associates actively develop and apply data techniques to augment research processes and deliver insights more effectively and efficiently.

As an FRG Manager, you will build strong relationships within your team of direct reports and our investment professionals. You will set the tone through recruiting the best talent, engage with highly motivated research associates, and drive the business with a primary focus on the regional team. You will provide coaching, development, and help cultivate an inclusive environment for associates to succeed. You will play an important role in helping associates to evolve their skills with a data and technology focus and to contribute to department goals and strategic priorities in the context of CG's long-term strategy.
Workflow management
- Plan, prioritize, and delegate research workflow and responsibilities while considering regional/global needs.
- Communicate with global peers to ensure workflow operation is effective, review processes and work quality to identify risk, and assure best practices are aligned with current business needs.
- Manage regional research requests on a day-to-day basis including; facilitating meetings, ensuring workflow tracking is up to date, monitoring quality of output and suggesting improvements ensuring deadlines are met and resolving workflow bottlenecks.
- Provide input on team capabilities required to support the Investment Group and identify longer-term capabilities to meet the department's vision.
Building and Managing Relationships
- Create an inclusive and engaging team environment focused on development and high-quality research deliverables.
- Deepen team communication and collaboration using a variety of mediums. Reinforce key messages from the broader organization specific to the Fundamental Research Group.
- Build regional relationships with the investment analysts, portfolio managers, and other key stakeholders.
- Represent the local team in day-to-day operations by facilitating the morning meetings and acting as the first point of contact for new requests or concerns.
Learning and Development
- Partner with local associates to set meaningful objectives, keeping in mind the associate's strengths, areas for growth, interests and longer-term career aspirations, and alignment of objectives with the long-term strategy.
- Provide feedback, coaching, development, and performance management as needed, including soliciting feedback from key stakeholders.
- Help associates grow in their roles and careers.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to lead regional recruiting and plan for succession.

- Proven track record and interest in successfully managing and developing a team of direct reports.
- Previous experience in fundamental investment research as a research associate or Investment analyst
- Ability to effectively plan and manage the work of others.
- Sound judgment in resolving matters of high complexity.
- Intellectual curiosity, quantitative and analytical skills in areas of high complexity, ambiguity, and diversity.
- Strong passion and interest to apply (and help others apply) data and technology to strengthen The Capital System.
- Ability to build, maintain, and communicate strategically and proactively with key stakeholders.
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
