We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Portfolio Manager with project/program experience to join our IT team. This position will be full-time, hybrid, and is a salaried position.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT project and program management, project quality assurance measures, organizational change management, team leadership, and a proven track record in setting up successful organizational processes and teams in a Project Management Office.
What You'll Do:
Oversee project portfolio management, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives. Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders regularly
Directly project manage 1-2 technology projects, identifying best practices to share with other project teams for continuous improvement
Develop standard project management deliverables
Implement project strategies and plans, including resource, risk, and procurement plans
Document and refine governance and project quality oversight processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness across projects
Develop recommended Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and a PMO Maturity roadmap
Increase the maturity level of IT project delivery by providing hands-on mentoring for staff. Provide leadership and direction to the project teams, promoting a positive and productive work environment
Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships within the technology division, serving as a trusted advisor and coach

Lead organizational change management initiative for IT adoption of new project management processes.
What You'll Need:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in business, IT, or related field; or equivalent work experience
Experience in federal, state or local government (city/county/regional) agencies, either as an employee or contractor
Proven experience as a Program/Portfolio Manager or similar role
Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices, ideally including IT project quality assurance practices
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to influence without direct authority.
Local to Los Angeles, CA area; you must be in the office a minimum of 2 days/week.
Desired:
Certification in project management methodologies (such as PPM, PMP, MPM or PgPM)
Proficiency in project management software tools (JIRA and/or Microsoft Project strongly preferred)
Experience and/or certifications in agile, ITIL, or six sigma methodologies
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
The pay range for this position is $165,000 - $185,000 annually (USD). Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role receive paid time off and may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
