At Cadence, we hire and develop leaders and innovators who want to make an impact on the world of technology.

Technical Communications Engineer I

We are looking for a Technical Communications Engineer I to create end-user product documentation and training materials for our DataCenter and Celsius EC Solver software products. This role involves working within the UK R&D team as part of an agile software development process.

The Role's Responsibilities

  • Liaise with our development, testing and engineering teams, and undertake your own research, to understand how to use our DataCenter and Celsius EC Solver software and its features

  • Convert technical information from developers, testers and engineers into content that can be easily understood by our users
  • Create, maintain and improve product documentation in a clear and easy-to-read style. This includes:

  • Software documentation - our 'F1 help', which explains every aspect of our software. This should help new users to confidently use the software, and also provide advanced users with the detailed information they need
  • Training materials - tutorials and other materials to introduce new users to our software, to teach existing users about newly-added functionality, and to support our in-house engineering team

  • Participate in development team meetings to ensure that appropriate material is ready in time for software delivery, and to provide feedback into the development process

Your Skills and Experience

Our ideal candidate is:

  • Excellent at communication - both written and verbal - and able to take complicated technical subjects and explain them simply
  • Self-motivated, and can work unsupervised and deliver to deadline
  • Driven to find and implement ways to improve themselves and their skills

We'd like the following skills and experience:

  • An ability to write across a range of genres and registers - a portfolio of writing that demonstrates this would give you an advantage
  • A demonstrable interest in software, technology and technical writing
  • A good degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Linguistics or English Literature

The following would give you a competitive advantage (but are not essential):

  • Previous experience documenting complex software or hardware for diverse audiences
  • Hands-on experience of documentation authoring tools in a single sourcing environment, and knowledge of XML, HTML and CSS
  • Working knowledge of document design and layout for print and digital
  • Previous experience in an Agile software development environment.

We're doing work that matters. Help us solve what others can't.
